Any chance?

A tidal wave of despair has swept across our support and everyone (myself included) has assumed since the Spurs game that we are already down. But after Bolton's result last night, is it possible we're jumping the gun? Thanks to goal difference we can't catch Villa so we can rule them out for a start. Then a few assumptions have to be made before we're even given a sliver of hope, namely:

1. We must beat Wigan.
2. QPR must lose heavily to Man City away last game.
3. Bolton must lose to Stoke away last game.

Then we have a situation where if our result against Chelsea is equal or better than 2 out of Wigan's against Wolves, QPR's against Stoke, and Bolton's against West Brom, we'll probably stay up.

If we beat Chelsea job done. If we draw then I can see West Brom holding Bolton and its possible Stoke could hold QPR.

Whatever happens, if we beat Wigan then there's no way we can already be out of it come the last day.

Realistically though we won't beat Wigan and the Chelsea game will be irrelevant.

Why won't we beat Wigan? Their one defeat in this wonder run they've had recently has been against the worst side in it. They're a good team but their league position shows how inconsistent they are. If they have one of their poor games they shouldn't be a problem.

Amazing we are not mathematically down already after the perfomances this season.

If the expected losses at United and Liverpool had occured we would be gonners already.

I am happy we still have a chance, however remote.

Do I think we will beat Wigan? Mmmmm.. They buried us at their place and should have won by 3 or 4. Quick thinking by MGP and a late goal rescued a point, but as B&W has said before, they were shocking losing 9 on the bounce earlier this season and we should be competitive at home against them.

Stop punishing yourself with hope and expectation- Wigan are sending us down on Monday- who would have thought that 10 years ago.

Wouldn't surprise me if we beat Wigan, they've had a purple patch but they're near the bottom for a reason.

It will be irrelevant though, I think we'd go down even if we beat Chelsea too.

Haven't you ever watched The Shawshank Redemption walkden? Hope is a good thing

That's quite a comparison.

Years of misery for an act he wasn't a part of and couldn't prevent, bent over and royally rogered, scraping away at a seemingly impenetrable brick wall, suffering through loads of sheeite... Then freedom (of sorts).

....With Samba as Morgan Freeman.

"With that in mind I don't think Di Matteo will care about the Rovers result."

Eh! I am sure Di Matteoe wants the Chelsea job and rolling over for a relegated Rovers won't impress Roman at all, so not sure what you are on about here.

Besides from that you do the whole Chelsea team and squad a dis-service and there are a number of top, top professionals at the club that will ensure they are competitive against us.
