Start Berba on Sunday?

Evening fellow reds, just wondering if any of you agreed that Berba should be restored to the starting line-up for the game on Sunday, alongside Rooney up-front. Welbeck's out injured and I think Berba's not been given nearly enough opportunities this season. Chances are we may need an avalanche of goals and these are the type of games, at home, to weaker sides (no offence, plus Swansea have nothing to play for) that The Berb excels in. I've been hoping he'd be given more of a chance for a while and Sunday seems like the right time, on his day he's one of the best in the world so why not? Anyone agree?

Wonder hw much we will get for him at the seasons end?

Well his contract ends this summer but there's a 1 year extension that has been activated in the contract. I'd say we would get about 15m to be fair.

He's 31 so I'd expect us to get around £10-15 million for him maybe.

Will be around 10m. In my opinion.

Good article, I totally agree.

I will go for 8. Given his age and lack of game time this year.

Shame though. Think Berbatov is a brilliant player and its a shame we've not seen him play regularly for a long while now. Thinking of some of the rubbish we see out on the pitch for other teams and then you see Berbatov wasting away on the bench

Great comment. I'd rather see Berba play for another club than sat on our bench. Players like Berba are rare and it's a shame we've been denied his talent for the best part of a year. Funnily enough, the last time he played regularly for us he was top scorer in the league and had just won player of the month. Then nothing.

Oh, and I reckon he'd go for £7-10m since he's hardly played for so long, is 31, available for free in a year and wants to leave badly. If the club has any decency it will let Berba go to the club of his choice which also weakens our negotiating hand massively. I think that was the case with Brown/O'Shea/Gibson to some extent as well.

hahaha, seriously, Jones4, why dont you blame Rooney for the Basel miss. It was an easier ball than Berba's against City because Berba was at full stretch on a bouncy ball, while Rooney's ball was played at his feet. Berba, Chicha and Rooney , all 3 should play on the weekend. We need goals.

I might get stick for this, but I really do think that had Berbs played ahead of Welbeck this season, we would have more points. Berbs is slower, but he is clearly the better player.
