JA606 England Squad - Central Defence PT 3

Hi

Parts 1 and 2 of the voting for central defence have established that Gary Cahill and Joleon Lescott are the most voted and will therefore both be included. On the other hand Liam Ridgewell, Ryan Shawcross, and Anton Ferdinand received the least votes from both parts and are eliminated.

Please vote out of the following remaining players which you'd like to include:

1 star) for Rio Ferdinand

2 stars) for John Terry

3 stars) for Phil Jagielka

4 stars) for Phil Jones

5 stars) for Ledley King

The player with the most votes will be included in the 23-man JA606 England squad - 3 goalkeepers, 2 right backs, 2 left backs, 3 centrebacks, 8 midfielders (2 RW, 2 LW) and 5 strikers.

I will however make a note of the runner up and include in what would be an alternative - 4 centrebacks and 4 strikers squad, taking off the 5th most voted striker in the process.

Admins if you could multiboard this please.

Thanks

How is Terry still getting votes?

Maybe it´s got something to do with the fact that he´s England´s best centre back by a country mile.

Not including Terry, who is the best English player in his position, would be absolutely ridiculous, unless a certain court case put a stop to him being included.

I suspect that certain United fans are calling for Terry's head as they think this in turn means Ferdinand will be picked, as the manager won't have to worry about any problems between the two.

However, even then Ferdinand shouldn't be included with the likes of Cahill, Lescott, Jagielka and King all better than him.

Jagielka has missed quite a bit of the season hasn't he? and when he came back from injury Heitinga kept his place?

Rio Ferdinand is well past his best and if he has a problem being in the same squad as Terry then it is Ferdinand who will have to stay behind.

Either way I wouldn´t put Ferdinand in my England squad even if there was no problem between him and Terry.

The likes of Cahill, Lescott and Jagielka are all well ahead of Ferdinand thes days.

Ferdinand is still a much better defender than Terry, he's had a sterling season.

In my opinion, the second best centre back.

And frankly Terry's lack of pace will embarrass us this summer if he goes along. Tell me what makes him the best option we have superb?

I disagree.

Ferdinand got taken apart in both the Champions League and Europa League this season.

The Athletic Bilbao players were running rings round Ferdinand and heavily exposed his decline as a player.

Like him or not I imagine Terry will be an automatic choice. Like him or not, Lescott should also go.

Many are stating that Cahill should go, and I agree as back up, as he is yet to get a regular game at Chelsea.

That leaves one place for either an up and coming youngster, or an experienced old hand. I think Roy will choose Ferdinand and so would I recognising that Smalling and P. Jones are still work in progress and Jagielka although a decent player is hardly a dominant centre half at the best of times.

Terry going as captain is not a problem, however the FA (right or wrong) have said he will not be considered as such and to take him will be to take the same disruptive person who helped divide the dressing room. I'm sure he believes he's just speaking up and talking for the players, however in SA that led to a so called players revolt and placed SG in an untenable position with a dressing room in tatters. As expectation is for once at an all time low perhaps it would be better to think of a future without Terry rather than risk another split.
