I can't believe how well-represented Liverpool are in the England squad after such a dismal season. For all their history, right now they are a mid-table club and most of their players are not good enough for England. I'll narrow it down to a few points so I don't ramble:
1. Gerrard as captain? After 2-3 years of poor form, he should not be an England starter. Now he is nailed on to play. For England, I would prefer Parker, Lampard, Barry or Carrick to play. Not saying they are all better players individually but think they would work best with the team. Lampard and Carrick are far more creative which is what we always lack.
2. Johnson ahead of Richards? Need I say more? This is a ridiculous selection.
3. Downing ahead of Lennon/A. Johnson? Downing is such a poor player, how he has been selected is beyond me. I just can't fathom what would make Hodgson think Downing is a better player than Adam Johnson.
4. Carroll ahead of Sturridge/Crouch? This one isn't as bad, but still I would not have taken Carroll to the Euros. Granted his form has surged recently, but he will make England play the same old ugly style of football.
I won't even discuss Henderson being a back-up instead of Carrick, my only theory is that Hodgson simply forgot about the lynchpin of the midfield of the Premier League runners up. A professional football manager could not seriously think Henderson is better surely?

i dont understand this big thing about downing! Ashley Young will start ahead of him anyway and micah richards has never been one of the best right backs in England. Roy has picked a good squad and i don't understand why you want us to play pretty attractive passing football when the footballers we have are nowhere near as good as Spain's,Germany's and the dutch. Play football how were good at it, physical in the air on the counter like we did against Spain when we beat them. I am just wondering why you haven't mentioned milner as a bad choice?

I don't rate Milner that highly, but there's no denying that out of the wide men in that squad Downing jumps out as the one who shouldn't be there.

How can you not understand the Downing thing? The thing is that he is an awful player who doesn't deserve to be in the squad.

Milner was a bad choice. He hasn't played nearly often or well enough to warrant a place in the squad. But this article is about Liverpool players being picked despite each and every one of them having a poor season personally. Unless Milner is soon to be a Liverpool player?

Downing has had a bad season but Lennon is a right midfield and can't cross with his left foot so he would be useless and Johnson has hardly played this season he doesn't deserve to be in the team because he doesn't play enough and is just at city for the money.
