Good evening fellow cricket fans,
Tomorrow is the first day of the first test match between England & the West Indies & i can safely say that the majority of people will be predicting an English victory
It's important that England get their summer off to a cracking start & they will be eyeing nothing less that a series whitewash.
West Indies do have some good looking up & coming players with Darren Bravo being tipped as the new Brian Lara but will this be enough to stop the No.1 test side in the world??
http://www.espncricinfo.com/england-v-west-indies-2012/content/current/story/564988.html
England (probable) 1 Andrew Strauss (capt), 2 Alastair Cook, 3 Jonathan Trott, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Ian Bell, 6 Jonny Bairstow, 7 Matt Prior (wk), 8 Tim Bresnan, 9 Stuart Broad, 10 Graeme Swann, 11 James Anderson
West Indies (probable) 1 Adrian Barath, 2 Kieran Powell, 3 Kirk Edwards, 4 Darren Bravo, 5 Shivnarine Chanderpaul, 6 Marlon Samuels, 7 Denesh Ramdin (wk), 8 Darren Sammy (capt), 9 Kemar Roach, 10 Ravi Rampaul, 11 Fidel Edwards
Pitch and conditions
Chris Adams, the Surrey team director, was highly critical of a Championship pitch at Lord's earlier in the season. It has been tough for Mick Hunt, the groundsman, with all the wet weather around but there is rarely a concern about one of his Test strips. At Lord's it is often a question of looking up, not down. If it is cloudy expect help for swing bowling
I hope you all enjoy the first test & my marvellous match thread
Cheers

Verdict - Complete and utter annihlation of a side that did as well as they can

As colourful as always with your words maksi . Comfortable victory in the end, but no-where near an "annihlation" mate

Last but not least - Bresnan lucky winning charm continues!
Where would England be without him & would England have won this match if Bresnan was NOT in the team?
---
No Grande we would not have done. That mans presence is massive in this England team. His presence both around the changing room, pavilion and on the pitch gives everybody a lift. He plays, we win, and everybody in this England team knows it.
Not his best test match, but we know he has so much more to give - Bressie

At least the WI made a game of it.

Afridi.
Just reading through all the posts and agree with all of you. It would be great to see the Windies pick their levels up a notch but I fear they might already have seen England at their worst.
We will certainly pick our levels up a notch during the series and good luck to the Windies when that happens. I still expect England to win inside 3 days
The Windies definitely had a good go at us, but they will go the same way as all the others in England

I think England have not lost a test match at Trent Bridge in almost 6 years since Murali & Sri Lanka ran England riot in 2006!
Trent Bridge is a fantastic home to England & looks to continue that way come Friday unless West Indies can find a way to take 20 wickets & recall a spinner & 1 of 2 batsman between Gayle &/or Sarwan!

I went to Trent Bridge in 2010 when England destroyed Pakistan on the 1st days play & Morgan made a Century.
I have relatives in meadows area too!

"Drop KP before one day he loses you a whole Ashes series on his own and believe you me it can be done"
Can I just say I was just winding you's lot up when I made that comment!

We on ja606 don't pick, or drop anybody The selectors will pick who they feel is good enough, and generally speaking they have done a great job, if we look away from Patel, Morgan and Bopara, but I didn't see any of them around today
