End of the road for Stewart?

http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~2388280,00.html
With the first team squad plus some reserves and two injured players in Portugal the fact that Stewart, as with Hunt, is not with them despite being fit seems to indicate that he is surplus to requirements at Ashton Gate and that it is probably loanees that will contest the CB positions with Carey, Fontaine(when fit), Nyatanga, Wilson and possably Ribs(depending on fitness and/or if needed at right back.

I am a bit surprised by this, I thought he improved towards the end of last season and at least deserved another shot.

More to this than meets the eye I think.

Well Millen in his interview said ' I brought enough players to put 2 full teams out against Charlton, one in each half, and Stewart doesn't appear in what is our reserve side looks like KM doesn't think he is good enough and perhaps he is another who has been told to find himself another club.
I agree he seemed to have improved at the end of the season but was that an improvement in his play or the fact that Nyatanga, Wilson, Carey et al were all playing better so he looked better because he wasn't under as much pressure?
I don't see too many games at the Gate anymore but Stewart reminds me so much of McCombe good in the air but most of the time pretty useless on the ground, although I admit I could be wrong as I've not seen him play enough.

Clear the wage bill, we need new defenders and having both Stewart and Hunt on the bill is proving a millstone. They may be able to be used as makeweights in any deal if people know they are available.

Be just our luck if Hunt moves on and starts to perform somewhere else. It could happen (maybe at Leicester lol)

Perhaps we should offer him to Big Sam at WHU and ask for Spence back on loan. Doses anyone think he might go for that?
LOL

Seems strange to me, we are littered with players who started poorly in their first season and came good in the second season. Maynard and Tinnion spring immediately to mind.

Maynard and Tinnion both showed flashes of what we signed them for in their first season even though the season as a whole wasn't great, the problem with Hunt seems to be he played with an injury which restricted him early on but then when he was supposedly fully fit later in the season he didn't look any better, to be fair I'm going mainly on reports and highlights as I only got to 7 games in total last year so perhaps I missed games where he played well.
However the match at Leeds sticks in my memory perhaps that is an unfair example I can't say so over to fans who saw him more than I did.
