Tom Glick has gone to work for Manchester City as chief commercial and operating officer.

Thoughts?

SDS, you missed the actual point. Before those clubs were able to make their moves and improve, they were exactly like us now, if not worse! Only 2 seasons ago, my best mate who is a Baggie and his family refused to renew (promotion season) as the season before, Stoke invested in James Beattie and stayed up, yet WBA did nothing and accepted relegation.

My Wigan comment is on the fact that they would be massively in debt, in a truly awful financial situation, worse than Pompey. They have had a decent manager who overachieved to get them promoted (a bit like Billy for us), and then Whelan's money has kept them up.

just clarify something for me please SDS, when you say "Im talking about the here and now Mostyn, the present?", are you promoting some risky strategy to get instant success?

I'm pretty sure you was behind Nigel Clough's "we have a plan over the next few years" comment?

Firsty I will apologise for the tone of previous posts. I promised myself over recent months that I wouldnt allow myself to do it.

We could quite easily be here all night thrashing our points of view across the thread, and quite frankly I think I need to cool off.

It is quite obvious Mostyn that you will not even begin to appreciate how utterly disgusted some Fans are with the way they have been treated over recent seasons. That much is obvious from your constant undertones to desparage the Manager. Some of your points about him have been quite valid, but I refuse to judge the man until he has been given a level playing field financially to compete with his peers. And by peers I mean managers of similar size and stature of Club.

If you want to call me a hypocrite for questioning Glicks loyalty to a cause which he constantly reminded Fans he was dedicated to, so be it. That is where you and I differ greatly. If I make promises and commitments to people, especially those for whom that commitment means so much, I stay until the job is done. Money and stature is not nearly as important to me as loyalty.

Yes, Glick was only the statesmen for GSE and Pearson merely a partner. Both will now have walked away from our club to greener pastures and full pockets. if thats what makes them happy then all power to them. Its what we are left with that I find a bitter pill to swallow. And you definitely know what I mean by that.

"ALL traces of quality gone, your words!
Is this down to the manager or the VP? But either way, we finished higher than any time other than two play-off seasons. So that argument effectively is null. The fact is our manager prefers a different kind of player. Even when we did have quality, he never favoured picking the players with the quality."

How you consider your answer to simply nullify or dismiss my argument is beyond me. Where are your facts to back up the statement that the manager would never pick the players with quality? Surely another possibility is that knowing they would have to leave, was there any POINT to picking them when they were never going to be part of the long term plan?

"Free and reduced price tickets in sheer desperation to fill the stadium.
If he fills the stadium, thats a good thing eh? Well done Tom."

How about filling the stadium with ALL paying customers, enjoying some Entertainment (remember that?), not a young inexperienced team with no influence and experience to balance it out?

"What he's done at our club is 'stabilised' the club on the pitch whilst improving the dire situation off it."

Did you watch the Fans Forum video Mostyn, if not give it a go, he clearly states that we are ammassing debt again, which if the trend continues will lead us back to the £30M figure you stated. You know as well as I that in football gambles need to be taken from time to time. Speculate to accumulate etc.

He also states that more cuts in finances are to come! All this only two/three? years after we were told that only the debt on the mortgage remained. My memory serves me well Mate.

So, please explain to me how when we are making more cuts this summer, and are not intending to invest with any meaning again, and yet still sustaining debt we can class any of the above as "stabilised"?

I didnt think you were reading my posts properly. Earlier I suggested some sensible and smart investment, by way of bringing one or two players in that
could push us into a position to influence the great prospects we have now. So, why have you suggested to me, yourself and everyobe else here that I am suggesting a risky strategy to instant success? We all know you have little to no faith in NC, some of us have, but given the right tools!

Mos, I understand your points and agree

Glick was headhunted, the end of. Our owners who are his friends, accept it, so should we.

They have invested, but the fact is, we as a club have no money and I do not see anyone rushing in to give us some, so we have to accept, slow building.

Clough doesn't like egos, unfortunately quality and ego are someone what interchangeable in football. Look at the scottish lad.

Just listened to this.

Tom says leaving is better sweet because he knows exactly what Derby County are about to do.

Any chance he could tell us what that is? It sounds positive but then again the sweet could be joining Man City and the bitter Derby being relegated. Again, with Tom we just can't tell. And if that's positive then what makes him believe we are about to commence on an incredible journey.

I can't see anyone rushing out to buy their season tickets based on a statement like that.

Further on he says he will miss going to see the Rams play. So, I look forward to him telling the Man City fans that.

He's lathered in managerial bullcrap. The sooner this age of spin dies the better. Let's get someone in who talks normally and with passion rather than a flattering words and fake emotion.

He will have a shock working with Middle Eastern paymasters.

He's just American, Iwas-that's what they're like, "awesome" this and "incredible" that. Naturally this causes us to grind our molars but it isn't really his fault. I dare say if he is replaced by a more plain-speaking sort of chap we will soon start accusing him of not being positive enough. There's always something we can find to rattle our cages.

Hmm, having just read his interview, perhaps he still needs to do a bit of work on his choice of words. I mean, when he talks about the Academy "producing spades", that could be misconstrued...
