Must've been doing something right. Be interesting to see what happens now.

Does that mean we've just saved ourselves 277 grand a year plus massive compensation to the Oil Rich Manchester club?

Sorry what's his job? Does he decide what player gets bought or something?

How sad. What will we ever do without him?

I was on a stag do at the weekend and was told by an old friends that we have agreed to sell Will Hughes to Man City in the summer of 2013.

That may explain that Man City getting to know Tom Glick hence being impressed with him and offering him a role.

So they're trying to go from spending the most ever in a season to the least...?

Random.

Let's hope this frees up room for someone to come in who knows something about football and Derby County in particular.

He's no loss.

Wassa undoubtedly needs new underpants

Do Man City get compensation.

Maybe we'll be their feeder club now

I blame Wassa,

He was always on his back, writing articles, organising protests, throwing darts at his picture, bending the arms of Toms voodoo doll.

Come back Tom, we miss you...

By the look of David Platt, he's already been at the feeder.

Strange one this... Surely going from the position he was in to this is a step backwards? Obviously Man City have the fire power to match his currently salary, but cant help thinking why someone would move from being a chief executive of a reasonably large club to Commercial Director/Manager.

Something doesnt smell very rosey to me, and as I have said before... Tom Glick is by no means to blame for a lack of investment at the club. He is merely the face of GSE and his role was to 'cut the cloth' accordingly.

Maybe he has got fed up with GSE and taking all the flack that he has no control over? or perhaps he has been pushed to cut costs even more?

I think that there is a more underlining issue that goes with this, and it will be interesting to see how Cloughs relationship with GSE develops.

Perhaps the man who has spent his time in the country waxing lyrical about how the game is corrupt, unsustainable and that it all HAS to end with a period of cost-cutting or the game will die found that Manchester City could pay him slightly more, so he resigned and took their money.

What a joke of a man he is.

Like it or not, if you owned a football club you would be impressed by how much revenue Derby brought in for so little investment. Glick would be considered a star acquisition.

Good point 666 - it does put his whole idea of financial fair play to little more than a load of horse shizzle.

I've got no beef with him and if the Champions of England have recruited him, he must have reasonable business credentials.
Furthermore, no matter what your job is, if the current League Champions came knocking at your door, you'd be off like a shot.
All the best to him I'd say. He leaves Derby in a better financial position than when he came. You have to give him that at least.

I'll bet he's sick of making excuses every transfer window about who we made a bid for and didn't get.

I'm sure he realised that the fans cant keep being fobbed off with FFP and Plaza's and that if we had a bad year next year that the fans would be on his back.

Not a bad job to move into though.

I don't know what his job at City will consist of-if it is on the playing side then he would be a hypocrite if he is now working for a club that has no interest in "sustainability", just spending whatever it takes to get a few trophies. If it's on the commercial side, maybe it's different.

His job at Derby was to do the bidding of the investors, which was primarily to cut costs, and he would seem to have done that job well. We now need a new Chief Executive who will presumably have the same remit, and who we can all look forward to blaming for failing to sign whichever striker is flavour of the month.

Just saw Club Statement on newsnow and immediately thought that there was big news, which it is.

What are the club going to do now though? The guy who is the figurehead of GSE and in charge of the commercial side of the club has had an offer he couldn't refuse.

I think it's a good thing pending that it does not disrupt the club progressing next season. But it does beg the question, is this the beginning of the end of GSE? Maybe it's my lack of imagination but I can't really see how the club and the current owners can continue without him.

To be honest though from reading the message boards (far too much) I think the timing is good and I think the vast majority of fans had grown very tired of Glick's corporate speak. The chemistry was never right.

Overall I think he did an admirable job in representing the club but I think a bigger club with a global appeal will suit him a lot better. I've no doubt he'll be a huge asset to Man City.

Hopefully this will pave the way for a Jim Smith type character to return as Director of Football to help Nige wheel and deal. Interesting times.

What?! You mean he was only ever an employee?!! I thought he was the devil incarnate being paid millions per year for simply spinning a yarn at ST renewal time...

Good luck to him, that's a big job going there to develop the City brand overseas I guess!

Maybe he will achieve his ambition of turning a football club into a world wide brand.

It's just not going to be our club
