Some valid points there. As far as Im concerned GSE recieved those parachute payments, therefore in my eyes that makes them and Glick responsible for the use of them. Ok, so the first was used to pay off Gadsbys loan, I will give you that, but the following two payments were of significant value (despite their value these days) the fact that they entrusted Jewel with them after his 2/3 of a season in the Prem. Regardless if the popular view was that we would leave the Prem whatever happened, we would have all been grateful to have seen some sort of fist made to at least give some confidence for the next term. So who was responsible for allowing Jewel to waste it? The third payment, well who knows what happened to that! I have to correct you in your statement about reverting to a mid table club, cos what I was watching was Relegation battle after relegation battle. It is only this season we have found the mid table mediocre CCC status youre talking about.
My point is Mate, that ok theres no point worrying about Glick now, but for some Fans to make him out to be some kind of hero in his time at Derby is quite staggering!
As Kernow rightly states, its who's coming next that we should all be very very concerned about.
What timing for us eh? At a crucial time of year for squad building. You are dead right Mate when you state next season will be "challenging", its going to be a massive fight to stay up from what I can see. Green, Davies gone, now we cant replace them until someone else is put in to replace the man who talked a good game but sadly never once delivered on one of his grand promises.

You will find the "free videos" section on the main page of dcfc.co.uk. The Fans forum video is entitled "12/13 ST renewal: fans questions answered"
Not far below it you will find the chunder worthy "be part of the family" video with Glick and his yardbrush and sleeves rolled up!
I don't know who has desribed Glick as a "hero". Whether we think he has done a good job depends on what his job description was. I expect he has done this well-as has been said many, many times, Glick was a hired hand to manage the club on behalf of its owners, and had no cash of his own to spend. Most of us would have preferred a different situation, and different owners, but I have heard many people with no vested interest in Derby holding up our club as a fine example of how a club should be run, and now the richest club in the land, who could employ anybody, have chosen Glick. I guess this must mean something.
I don't say he goes with my best wishes, or anything daft like that. He does, after all, now appear close to a hypocrite, unless he argues that by pushing the "global brand" idea he will ultimately make City self-sufficient, which seems fanciful.
But now what? GSE are the company which runs Derby day to day, so is there another person in the organisation to step forward? Do GSE hire a different sort of individual, a "football" person, but with the same job description? I would hope for a wise ex-manager, who knows the game, and who understands how football finances work, and who might be a better link between Clough and the owners. For 277K a year, there should be plenty of applicants.
Thanks SDS,
Yes, I share your concerns. That's why I sort of supported the idea of Adam Pearson returning (not very original, I know). Kernow is right. It may be Glick's exit is simply a man being offered a top job, nothing sinister (I hope).
As for my comment about 'reverting to mid-table mediocrity', I meant during our stay in the PL where our cinderella play-off win turned into a nightmare (we seemed to revert to 20th in the Championship, our placing before the promotion) and where we were crushed at home by Preston, a Championship side in the FA Cup and struggled to get past Sheff Wed, another Championship side, on penalties.
I really think we never replaced the grittiness of Seth Johnson who got us through the play-offs and perhaps weren't as bad as we became, partly because we failed to bring in some midfield enforcers or when we finally did under Jewell, Savage was past it.
Fair enough Vidal, I guess the passion got the better of me with the "hero" comment, so I'll retract that comment
As for who will replace Glick? I will make two predictions:
1) It will be someone who will say "yes" on a regular basis to his/her masters!
2) I fear it will be someone similar to Glick, who can fluff up the media, and fans alike, as and when required. And will no absolutely bog all about football!
I sincerely hope that I have these words rammed down my throat by someone, but I fear the worst, especially after just hearing the TG and AA interviews.

I agree. I just hope we had some warning of this, and that whatever transfer deals we may have been pursuing aren't now scuppered.
Regarding his departure, he's not expected to leave his current role until August - so we should expect business as usual until then.
Yes Desi, business as usual. Visit the DCFC website and watch the interview with Glick for "the usual".
More new gimmicks to try and entice ST renewal and more tinkering with the Matchday experience. Lots of waffle about youngsters coming through (already discussed as cherry pickings for the big boys) (Man City???) . The next person who takes over his role will be "amazing"!

Just thought I'd put his Linked In page on here. According to his profile we are still a Premiere League club. Let's see how long it takes him to update it. It doesn't surprise me he did update it.
Well Glick has gone to City and so that says something...what however? I am unsure, but he goes with no ill-will from me. He seemed a nice enough guy doing the job he was given and though I too, would like to be beyond where we are, we are improving, slowly but surely and our club is actually stable.
Also people should not forget, Glick went from being a nobody in the football world to one of the major players and activists in the Champions political ring in a mere 3 years. That says he is probably not a dumb and cute as his smile suggests.
All in all, he had many failings, which cannot be ignored, but he leaves Derby in a far better position than where he found it and very few board members can say that.

If I may act as an interpreter:
He can F off, cos he was out of his depth and we are happy to have the oportunity to appoint someone who knows about football.
Iwas - interpreter! WTF are you on about. I thought Glick was the king of spin but you've taken it to a new height by spinning Applebys words totally ouot of context.
Glick did a very decent job for us (given the parameters he was asked to work in), is extremeley highly regarded by the Football League and FA hierarchy and has been offered a top job at the wealthiest club in the world.
Why would Appleby have a go at Glick? Why would anyone with half a brain really have a go at him when the evidence is right in front of the football world that he can do a job in the game, regardless of his lack of prior knowledge.
Peeder, he can do a job on the commercial side for Man City. This is where his strengths are. For Derby, were we don't have the luxury of muliple Directors for this that and the other he was hopelessly out of his depth. Hense Appleby saying we will a footballing man in.
I don't think Appleby would of tried too hard to keep him.
Has Mostyn now bought a sky blue shirt?
What's that got to do with football?
"Why would anyone with half a brain really have a go at him"
in this thread, he did
Anyone with half a brain can see how utterly inept he was.
He is already being bypassed on transfers.
I have said many times on here that he is an expensive luxury. ManCity is the best place for him.
Can't wait to see the 60,000 blue moon face masks.
Thank god he's going and I don't have to hear him say the work "exciting" ever again with his American drawl!
This is the man who, down the years, has been at the forefront of prudencey, cost-cutting, FFP and CUTBACKS and where's he going?... The richest most capitalist Football club on the PLANET!!!... and what's he gone for?....
$$$$$$$$$$$$$
hypocrite anyone?
Having spent a fortune, Man City have now got in someone to make sure they qualify for Europe when FFP comes into force.
Good luck to him.
As for Derby, GSE are employed by the real owners to run the club.
GSE will have to find a new figurehead, but the owners haven't changed and neither will their policies, so expect whoever replaces Glick to have exactly the same brief he had.
Glick would put on a splendid Wedding reception but as far as football goes hes about as much use as Wes Morgan man marking Messi. Hes probably run the club on a day to day basis very well but as regards the football side it wont change anything.
