Henderson got a lot of criticism this season, not least for just passing sideways. Just saw an interview with Steven Gerrard saying that Henderson is a great passer and very athletic. This got me thinking that a midfield partnership of Lucas and Henderson could be very promising next season, as both are very mobile...unlike for instance Adam who played early in the season a lot with Lucas.
With Lucas holding the midfield in a way that is not natural to Henderson, do LFC fans think we could see more of Henderson going forward, as he did at Sunderland?

"I'd back Rodgers to get improved form out of Henderson."
Me too. He's a good player but has been unsure of what's expected of him and rather cowed by SG trying to do everything. Hopefully, BR will sort it.

Resurrection Is Nigh: Are you serious about Shelvey?! For his age, I think he has serious potential-if he's at the same level when he gets to Spearing's age-certainly move him on-but were Gerrard and Lampard much better at the same age than he is now?

comment by thepadman - if Suarez is El Pistolero then Carroll shall be El Bulldozero (U5621)

I am completely serious.
I've seen nothing of Shelvey that say's to me quality.

Shelvey is quality and to say what you have said gives you zero credability.

I think Shelvey will be given a chance by Rodgers, and could be a good squad player.
He's very comfortable on the ball and has shown (although probably not enough) that his passing can be impressive. With that in mind, I had him pegged as a relatively deep-sitting playmaker, but I was really impressed with him as an attacking midfielder supporting Carroll at Ewood Park, he looked dynamic and had a confidence that not many of our players had when they were on the ball in the final third.
He has a good all-round game and doesn't mind closing down; again this comes down to the fact that he's a young, raw central midfielder upon whom Rodgers will be working extensively to impress his ideas and philosophy. He's got potential, I think BR will like him, and I think he'll get a decent handful of starts.

You obviously didn't watch Lampard at West Ham which earned him his big move to Chelsea

Henderson will be class over the coming years.
Spearing - End of the road, should be sold.
Adam - Not mobile enough, very slow, should be sold.
Lucas - Quality.
Gerrard - Top quality, plenty of years left.
Shelvey - Will never cut it at LFC, time to move him on.
Aqualani - Very classy player, hope he decides to give it a go this year.
Cole - Excellent talent, just unable to perform for LFC, shame, might get sold.
Downing - A top talent waiting to deliver, give him one more season.
Bellamy - A fantastic player to bring on from the bench.
Sterling - Short cameos end of last season, impressed, big things waiting to happen.
Suso - Great player (hopefully) needs a season on loan.
-------------------------
Suso and Sterling are so young, it's hard to say how they will develop. I hope Rodgers gives them a chance. It would be great if we could develop at least one top quality player from through the academy, like we used to quite often.
I agree Spearing is just cack, but Shelvey has promise and I'd like to see him given a chance too!

Yeah Shelvey actually wanted to try and get in the box and help Carroll out, something which Henderson and Adam rarely did!

@Chelseamf
Shelvey is 20, Lampard movede to Chelsea at 23..if Shelvey had as much first team football as Lampard had I reckon they'd probably be similar in standard? This is all hypothetical of course as Lampard is one of the best English midfield players of the last 20 years; but the point I'm trying to make is Shelvey has a lot of potential and it's ludicrous to write him off at this stage!
