for the pride and sake of the national team
was the 6+5 rule blatter's idea? if so the only good thing to come from him
the 6+5 rule which i thought was an BRILLIANT proposal, however the EU rejected the idea (sound familiar) on the basis of discrimination, the EU is bringing this country to its knees!
the proposal wanted the teams to slowly develop the rule from 4+7 to 6+5 within 3 years, again a brilliant idea
anyway somehow the FA need to try and circumvent the EU and bring about this rule or something similar if england are to have any chance of international success
clubs are prefering to bring in foreign players rather than promote young english talents and we are paying for it
1. any english player's value in the PL has become ridiculously overblown
2. poor standards in the England team e.g. henderson, downing (im not picking on liverpool players) they just dont deserve to be in the squad
so come on FA grow a pair
anyone else thought the 6+5 rule was a good idea?
p.s admin maybe multiboard this article if deemed interesting
6+5 rule needs to be proposed again

England have enough quality players (some of them are young players as well) to be a strong side.
The biggest problem is the coaches who pick the wrong players and wrong tactics.

Rubbish asrticle. There should not be any constraints on who plays club football. English players need to be better, then they will play more

For the long term future of the National team and the development of (young) English talent, then a slow down of overseas players playing in the PL needs to be looked at.

Why? All the top teams have a fair number of young English players getting a fair amount of games.
Playing players because of their nationality rather than ability does not make for a better national team, moreso a worse national league.

Co's i never want to see another team like Arsenal field a none English player team again, that's why!

Then English players need to learn how to control a football and use it wisely. Hoofball is archaic.
The only way they can learn it is from foreigners as our coaches have no clue about technique.

Not to add Carrick and possibly Powell to that list!

A full English XI, would easily compete for the top 4, all these players bar Fryers and Amos are first team players.
IMO This is what the England squad needs to be modelled on, a United side with a winning-mentality, a United side who play good football and score goals.
This, (bar Scholes and Rio) would be a youthful team, capable of playing for years....
Yet we are stuck with the base on Liverpool and umpteen donkey's in the squad....
I can dream

The last time that the 6+5 rule was in place, England failed to qualify for the WC in USA 1994.
So much for that...
Incidentally....I'd rather see this England team than the shower we are fielding tonight:

Why not? How does it have a negative effect on you? Are you racist?
Arsenal, during the time our 1st team was full of foreigners, produced the only truely world class player England have had this century in Ashley Cole. Playing with foreigners almost certainly helped him develop into the best left back in the world.
Forcing teams to play 6 English born players will not create world class players. If anything it will create even more average English players.
