Many thanks to Harry for all his efforts and many fine memories in nearly 4 years at the Lane and all the best for the future.
But this is undoubtedly an astute decision by Levy. While Harry was the right appointment at the right time in 2008, his departure also comes at the right time. Redknapp must take lots of credit for the excellent job he has done over 4 years but it has been clear for some time that he could not take this squad any further. His limitations as a manager have been laid bare for all to see and it is far better to get rid now than our more traditional autumn transition. Another season of Harry was not an inspiring prospect and we need a fresh start with new ideas and new inspiration.
However, Levy must act swiftly in appointing a replacement, as there is no time to lose. A director of football will probably be appointed alongside the new manager. Levy has always preferred this structure. Perhaps someone like Van Gaal alongside a young manager like Villas Boas, Martinez or even Rodgers (seems bizarre but there are rumours that he would be willing to leave Liverpool already as he has had an eye on the Spurs job for some time). Whoever he may be, the new manager will need time to make his mark and of course we cannot expect miracles in his first season. Patience will be needed as we embark on a new era, but these are exciting times with a new stadium on the horizon. It is time to look forward with a fresh approach and new challenges. COYS

I'm not a Liverpool fan but the idea Rodgers would sign a lengthy contract at Anfield and then leave weeks later to sign for Tottenham is ridiculous.
