Trap?

Should he stay or should he go?

5 Stars- Go
1 Star- Stay.

His refusal to give younger players a chance may signal the end for him and the Press are already turning on him. The FAI say they are happy with him and have no plans to get rid of him.

I still don't know. If Staunton was manager after that performance, then the reaction would have been far more vicious. But, Trap has always commanded much more respect from me, nevertheless his tactics are very questionable. Whether that be playing Cox at all, and then even worse playing him out of position or the unbelievable decision to play Paul Green against Spain after he came off the bench. But I could get over all that if he gave more young players a chance, but sadly I don't think he will. Italians tend to cling onto their senior players for as long as possible, and I don't think Trap will be any different in that regard. We need fresh ideas and I'd like to see the likes of Mccarthy, Mcclean and Coleman selected more often, but is Trap the man to oversee this transition and take the team forward?

Thoughts?

What gets me riled up is when he says that the squad now is not as ‘talented’ as previous squads especially in 2002!!

Oh yeah Trap…I forgot what world class players Mark Kinsella, Matt Holland, David Connolly (to name just three!) were………!!

Nowhere near the quality of McCarthy, McClean, Gibson, Hoolihan…..

In 2002 we were a much better team simply because Given, Keane and Duff were 10 years younger (all world class champions league standard players back then) now all 3 are well past it but the likes of Hoolahan, McCarthy, Gibson and McClean do not come close to replacing them....

They are solid premier league professionals but nothing exceptional there, hence why none of them play at Champions Lge or Europa League standard... unlike the whole Croatian team.

The sad thing is John Delaney wont do a thing about it. He is quoted in the Star today as saying 'Trap is staying and his job is to get us to the world cup, simple as' and he was supposedly out of his head, buying all the fans free drinks and singing f__k Roy Keane etc all whilst Monaghan utd go out of business. Sad day for the league yet the main man is in Poland getting leathered. The FAI are pathetic.
