Rooney used to be technically brilliant when he first came to United. I don't know what has happened as his ability to retain possession, his touch, dribbling, passing and long distance shooting have all regressed.

I was shot down by VC for saying that Rooney would have been technically more acomplished had he gone to Arsenal. The nature of Wenger's coaching would have improved him technically, whereas United's game is more about power, pace and being a more rounded player, and often their ability is coached out of them.

Wilshere is overhyped, and he has not peformed enough to a high level, but you'd have to be blind or a Spurs fan not to be able to see that he possesses more footballing ability than any English player.
