Welcome all to the daily matches of the day thread. Wimbledon, the greatest tournament in tennis as they say it has arrived in it 126th edition. Seedings have been announced, draws have been out and we all have been waiting to see some most wonderful tennis on the original tennis surface, the grass.
Lots of interesting matches for the day. And lets have the prediction game to add some fun to it.
1. Novak Djokovic (SRB)[1]
v
Juan Carlos Ferrero (ESP)
Can it get tricky for Djokovic. Ferrero showed some form in the recent matches? Maybe not, but I'll like to back the old dog, just for some fun.
2. David Nalbandian (ARG)
v
Janko Tipsarevic (SRB)[8]
Very interesting match indeed. I'll be rooting for the 'fit Dave', his tennis is pleasing to my eyes.
3. Sergiy Stakhovsky (UKR)
v
Radek Stepanek (CZE)[28]
Tough one to predict. I'll put Stepanek for the experience and some recent form.
4. John Isner (USA)[11]
v
Alejandro Falla (COL)
I'm just going with Isner cause I like big servers. But his recent form hasn't been good, perhaps it can go to 5 sets.
5. Fabio Fognini (ITA)
v
Michael Llodra (FRA)
I'm with llodra on this one.
6. Gilles Muller (LUX)
v
Julien Benneteau (FRA)[29]
I'll go for Benn though won't be surprised if Muller wins it.
So let the games begin.

Djoko has demolished poor ferrero. Fognini-Llodra and Tipsy-Nalby going good at the moment.

U should have watched Gulbis v Berdych. What a day 1 at Wimby!
Gulbis dumps Berdych, Falla beats Isner, Fognini wins against Llodra. Bring it on Wimby, it is looking good.

The Gulbis Berdych match was good. Gulbis is a great player to watch. The power he generates is stunning.

Have not seen him much lately, but as far as I remember he sprays it a lot too. I remember Mary Pierce - she would also hit with tremendous power but nobody had any idea where the ball would go.
This was an exciting result and it perhaps rekindles whatever hope one has left for Gulbis. But, in the end, this was mainly a good result for Novak.

Certainly! This is why I think it's no point hoping he will strings wins from now on....but on the day, it's pretty nice to watch. I would have liked to see him in a day like that versus the other top players.

Rotla, get out of bed, Day two is about to start !!!!
As or day one, had a beautiful time, the weather was glorious, and there was so much tennis to be seen, you just can't manage to see even 10%, unfortunately.
Tenez was a great guide around the courts although there were so many people it was hard to move from court to court.
Everywhere you looked, you could see a good player: Istomin, Seppi, Tursunov... all playing their matches almost anonymously on small courts to passing by crowds.
Really enjoyed seeing Nole on CC, playing on the immaculate lawn, no bald patches, all lush green and soft.
The court was packed and felt more alive than C1.
