All-Time French Premier League XI

Hello

With the arrival of yet another dreamy Frenchman into the ranks at Arsenal, I thought it might be good to take a look back at the players that France has contributed to the Premier League over the years, as out of all non-British or Irish countries France have had the greatest number of players in the PL, and a French XI might even be able to beat an English PL XI, such is the sad state of English football.

Well, here it is:

------------------Barthez -------------------

Sagna-------Desailly------Gallas---------Evra

Ginola-------Vieira------Makalele--------Pires
----------------Cantona---------------------------
-----------------------------Henry-------------------

If I've missed any obvious ones (especially keepers) then tell me, I probably have missed someone as I am still nursing a slight hangover.

Also for Arsenal fans, I love Koscielny just as much as the rest of you, but he needs a couple more years of consistently good performances to overtake Gallas, who only started being poor when he went to Spurs.

Admins, please could you multiboard this onto Spurs and Chelsea?

Urgh, I meant to put Sinama-Pongolle upfront in a 4-3-3...

My team is ruined!!

Good team from the OP.

Chuck in Saha and Blanc for Henry and Gallas and you've got yourself a deal.

Swap Vieira, Makelele & Cantona for Garde, Grimandi & Samassi Abou and you're about right OP

I appreciate everyone has a right to their own opinion, but surely Gallas should get in ahead of Blanc.

Blanc was one of the best defenders of his generation, but he was 36 when he started playing in the Premiership. I think most would argue that his time in England was the nadir of his career.

Gallas, on the other hand, as much as I dislike his attitude, was one of the best defenders in the Premiership for nearly a decade.

I'd argue Koscielny has a better claim to a place than Blanc.

DaStu

Gallas is one of the best defenders I've seen play the game. In terms of PL years, Gallas should be ahead of Desailly too.

You're missing World Cup and European championship winners Youri Djorkaeff and Sylvain Wiltord!
