... with my business head on, I would recommend he signs for............... NOBODY!
With 1 year left on his contract, his value to us is going down.
He shouldn't commit to a sideways move that would potentially lock him in the CC for a couple more years - that includes us.
If he is top scorer after January, he (and his agent) could select their club at will. If we are romping the league at that point he MIGHT opt to stay.
More likely is that we(he) is scoring goals for fun and boosting his own wage value, whilst we stay mid-table due to defensive frailties.
My prediction is that he goes to a prem side for £4m in Jan without signing any contract in the meantime.
If I were Maynard's agent...

I agree with u red&white apart from not signing a contract in the meantime. Nicky will sign with us under his and his agents terms that if he does sign a new 2 year deal that if a prem club comes knocking on the door in jan that he will be alloud to go under his terms just my opinion and no facts on this matter lol...

If Maynard does score a hatful and we are 5 points clear at the turn of the year, there is a fair chance he may decide to stay and become a Premiership Robin.
That would be the number one choice for club and fans, but if he does leave, we have quite an armoury waiting to take his throne

Interesting listening to Millens interview today. It certainly does not sound like Nicky and his agent are that close to agreeing a new contract.
Milly is saying all the things that you would expect, Nicky is happy etc. Knowing his options are increasing the longer he delays the new contract I can see why he would be happy.
My feeling is it is standard PR speak from Milly well rehearsed and the bit about offers being nowhere near our valuation and everyone has their price sounds very much like another couple of Million would seal the deal and placate the fans.
IMO the club are ready to deal, preferably with a Premier league club but maybe just maybe Leicester if they offer silly money. Nickys head has probably been turned now and what he will ask for would probably be beyond what we are willing to pay. I think Steve and Colin will have their exit stategy for Nicky well mapped out. Its now a case of WHEN not IF.

i'm not a wum, but I assure you Leicester will have already agreed personal terms with Nickys agent, they would not keep coming back with a bid if they didnt think he would sign for them, i personally think last year of contract and a Championship player, should not be going for more than 5m but we shall see.
Just want an end to the speculation, i'm sure we agree on that

I think most of us would have thought £5m not a bad price a few weeks ago but the bottom line is with any product you can ask any price but ultimately it is only worth what someone is prepared to pay.
I think the delay in agreeing a contract is as much down to a strategy agreed by our Chairman and owner on how to best serve BCFC.
Over the past few weeks without kicking a ball in anger Nickys value has risen steadily and with Leicesters interest continues to do so.
I like many others felt we paid over the odds to Crewe when we bought Nicky but it looks like paying off. Leicesters interest has undoubtedly alerted 1 or 2 prem clubs and if they should come in then happy days. If not it will be a case of how far will Leicester go to get their man.
Our owner may not splash the cash as much as some less wealthy owners but he is a shrewd businessman whose personal fortune is multiplying year on year because of sound financial judgement, so I am happy to wait on developments trusting that if/when Nicky moves Bristol City will get a cracking deal

Personally I would rather we kept him and he scored 30 goals to fire us into the Premiership.
I know its a business, but it is a football club not a bank

I don't know if the agent just gets money from a signing on fee or a players wage. I just firmly believe that at the moment he would do well to keep his options firmly open.

Plus BRR as a buisness the 60+ million a year for Prem clubs is worth losing 5 million for however if he wanted Prem football he would then have it. OK if Liverpool or one of the other big clubs came in we would still lose him but the price would be better if he had scored in the Premier league.

I dont get why are club are so keen on a player who can not say simply Yes or No!? still Sven knows what he wants and we await the outcome some time soon......i hope??
