TONY EVANS,

Chief Sports Writer for The Times and Lifelong self confessed Liverpool fan, was on TalkSport with Alan Brazill this morning spouting forth his usual Anti-Everton rubbish, but today he really overstepped the mark in my opinion.
He told Listeners that Everton were in very deep Financial Trouble, That D.Moyes would not have ANY money to spend this year, That he would only be here for one more year, and that we would be selling several of our Top Players but did not name them.
He then concluded by calling "Kenwright" not even using a courteousTitle, a "LIAR" by telling anyone who would listen, that he had Mortgaged his own property for the benefit of the club. Brazil cut the interview short at this point but i hope Bill Kenwright heard it and responds accordingly.

No, of course i do not believe the accusations are true. They may have been printed in The Times, I did not read it yesterday.
The simple fact that the allegations are obviously untrue would be so easy to provethat it makes your"argument" worthless.
You are presuming an awful lot of facts and by your own admissions, did not hear the Broadcast. There is no further point in trying to take this any further simply to provoke a long and fruitless exchange, which seems to happen all too often, when you get The Bit Between Your Teeth, as i am sure many of the Contributors to our Board will Acknowledge.

I can't see why he would take this to court?

Nothing was printed in The Times.

Just the broadcast on Talksport. The most he will see is an apology....at what personal cost?

If it was printed word the offended party can sue for libel and defamation of character.

If the defamation was verbal the offended party can sue for slander.
Both leave the person defamating the character of the offended party open to an award against, resulting in monies being paid to the offended party.
A person can take action if his reputation has been brought into question, resulting in an effect on his future business dealings.

Calling someone a liar on a live radio show would fall into that category.imo.

By the way,i am in no way defending Evans, imo he is a self important jumped up beaut.

If he has the evidence to back his accusation he should put it out to the public.

As I said...i wonder why he doesn't publish it in The Times?

Is it because its just his opinion.

Perhaps The Times Editor, has a little more sense than Evans and, realising the stupidity and recklessness of such an allegation, censored Evans contribution.

Silky,

he would not be allowed, by his legal team at the times,to publish the accusation of Bill lying.
It would be an open and shut case of libel.
As mentioned the same law applies for verbal defamation,if legal action was taken it would be an open and shut case of slander.

Unless it is the truth Evans spoke,of course.

But he must have proof to back up his claim. Or is his lack of evidence the reason why The Times never published the article?

Judging by the amount of Tosh that comes out whenever he speaks about Everton, i dont think that his brain engages although a Red Mist must descend, impairing his vision and all logical thought. Quite how he has reached such dizzy heights is beyond reasonable explanation.

Last week you were biging him up for his appearance on QT.

However you are right here, he was used by Talksport for his RS bias!
