Just seen a comment by "Gutted red" on the nep site - about famous forest fans and using them for a bit of pr. Carl froch, lee Westwood, stuart broad etc. which I think is a good shout.
But what else could we do to raise our profile???
In my honest opinion, nottingham doesn't feel like a true football city at the moment - that's surely got to change an soon!! Most of the other major cities with major football teams. You know where you are by looking at what's in the sports shop windows & the shirts on people on the street back.
Does anyone know why Forest shirts aren't plastered in every window, of every sports shop in Nottingham? Its as though they are only available at the ground!
There should be a huge 'welcome to Nottingham- city of legends"... Mr. Hood and forest etc. as soon as you come through customs at Nottingham east midlands airport. (better than the dodgy derby uni advert that's there now). All over the train station / bus station etc.

The event attracts good numbers from across the globe even though most of us that live in Nottingham have never heard about it.

I love the Robin Hood arguement. He could have been born anywhere, he could be buried anywhere but the world over he is associated with Nottingham. Cloughie was born in the North East but will always be associated with Forest, Derby and Leeds. When people talk about Dalglish or Fergie they think Liverpool and Man U, the list is endless.
Maybe they should rename the airport Doncaster Kevin Keegan Airport, at least he was definately born there, although people worldwide associate him with Liverpool, Hamburg and Newcastle.

You could raise your profile by playing the Rams every week.
You might even fill your shed.

"Finningley is a village ... Historically part of Nottinghamshire" - Wikipedia
Robin Hood Airport is in an area that was historically Notts anyway (it was part of Retford district when I grew up). Perhaps we should push to remove reference to Doncaster and Sheffield and reclaim the airport for Nottingham!
There is also a lot beyond Robin Hood that Notts can sell of interest (Lord Byron, DH Lawrence, Newark castle and the civil wars last stand etc...). But best of all, and given this is 606, CLOUGHIE!

I think it is funny when anyone tries to say Robin Hood is not from Nottingham. i mean every piece of historical evidence written down refers to him as from Nottingham.

Spartacus "Nottingham has no more claim to the Robin Hood legend than Derbyshire or Yorkshire." then you go on to say "A fictional character told to kids along with the tooth fairy, father christmas and god".
Now stick with an argument mate. Your last point is spot on, it's a story, not real. Those stories refer to Nottingham, get over it and stop bleating. Now, what's wrong with promoting a legend associated with your town? Nothing. You'll be asking for Disneyland to be torn down next.

Oh yeah, haha. The first bloke is wrong, you're right. Still nothing wrong with Nottingham exploiting our legend. The hilarious thing is Doncaster making such a big fuss.
