The Hors d'Ĺ“uvre's have now been finished.
Now for the main course and India with the first test starting next Thursday.
What are your predictions for the series and can anybody see Broad being omitted come the first test?
The rest of our team picks itself at present.

Rugby world cup?
When is the hockey one?

It gets worse.

I dont watch Hockey but I would - football could take a leaf out of hockey's philosophies - never afraid to change rules to make the game better - the 2 sports are well related in terms of the make up of the game - Hockey disposed of the offside rule some years back (im led to believe) there was an outcry initially - goal hanging arguments etc - in fact it opened the game up and made it faster - tactics were changed and it improved the game - imagine the prehistoric soccer world being faced with a CHANGE that could potentially improve the game and take away contentious issues - it would be disastrous - they will be thinking of using technology to make sure that correct decisions are given next - heavens above

I find it odd that there is such a long gap between the finish of the SL ODI series and the first India test with little opportunity for our test players to get practice.
Only Broad, Bresnan, Prior and Strauss will have 4-day cricket.
Surely the ECB should have provided opportunities for all players to get in some competitive cricket in this period.
T20 and CB40 games are not the preparation they need. Tremlett hasn't played since the last SL test as far as I can see, so what form is he in?

No offside's in Football would ruin the game, IMO. You're be asking for bigger goals next
Now, goal line technology would be welcome.

sorry hope - I have spent a year or 2 reminding Ginger how poor the world of soccer or wendyball as it is known in many quarters is - its a hard habit to break
That said - why would it ruin it - it improved hockey - I would also get rid of accidental handball - although it would be a shame if pundits and fans had to start talking about skills and the merits of the game rather than controversy

Lydney, you and I have found common ground with regard to soccer.
I cannot understand how fans can get so excited about a team full of players with names they cannot pronounce.

well nor do I hope - although do they get excited? -in my experience most soccer fans seem to get angry or depressed most of the time - unless they are German
