Heather watson wins her first WTA title (doubles) in Stanford, rises to number 71 in world and is now the British number 1.
After her fine run to semi finals in Palermo, Laura Robson breaks back into top 100 and is the youngest player in the top 100.
This means we have 4 Brits in top 100 for first time since 1991.
Well done ladies, still further to go for the great Brits!
Ps another up and coming young Brit just win her junior itf title in holland, congrats to Jazzy Plews (remember the name), she's only 14, but is beating the 18 year olds, one to watch!

Lets see how they cope with the Olympics, that should be a good indicator of pressure and exposure

You have to ignore the Olympics, it bears little relation to their livelihood which is about ranking points and trying to make it at Slams.
Plus they'll not be playing singles there.

I meant more about coping with the pressure and the limelight rather than winning

Bill, gotcha, I still think they'll be fine, they're not expected to win, pressure will be on the athletes in the games who are potential medallists.

Jonty, I hope they both enjoy the experience and wo knows in 4 years time one of them might be going into the Singles as favourite for the Gold

Robson falls at first hurdle in next tournament on a tie break to 3rd seed - no disgrace.
Watson meanwhile wins her next first round match at Carlsbad and could meet Wickmayer again whom she met in Stanford a weeks ago and lost in 3 sets.
Would be very interesting to see if she can engineer a different result this time.

Jonty, totally agree, as long as they progress and only lose to higher ranking players I don't think there is cause for concern. They are both just learning their craft and any wins against higher players should be regarded as a bonus rather than an expectation (at least for this season)

Bill, Watson is a quick learner, wold love to see how she handles Wickmayer now just a week later.
