BRISTOL CITY 1 CHARLTON 2

SO THE FIRST PRE SEASON FRIENDLY MATCH HAS BEEN & GONE:::
22 players have now had a run out against another team (Charlton) no goals in the first half and all 3 goals in the 2nd half write phillips scores first for Charlton Stead then heads the ball in to equalise but a late goal from Jonnie Jackson (who's he) lol finnished the game off 2 - 1. Infront of a couple hundred City fans who madethe trip to Spain at the new St Lepe Stadium in Huelva. Yannick Bolasie came close to scoreing when he hit the outside post from a 20 yard strike in the first 10 mins. Maynard came close to putting us in front at half time when killkenny put a nice through ball to Maynards feet but Maynard struck wide of goal Gerken made a great save from point blank range but Bradley Wright Phillips struck from 10 yards out to give the addicks the lead.Martyn Woolfird then put a clever ball over the back four heads which landed nicely for Stead who swept his shot in. With eight minuets to go David Clarkson takes a strike but hits the cross bar then in the dyeing minuets Jackson for Charlton received a short corner pass and struck in to make it 2 - 1...

So from that summary reminds me of last season wide shots rattle woodwork bad defending & conseiving late goals. Hope we do better against Plymouth & Torquay....

'With a line-up that can win....'

.... But we LOST!

Don't tell me - it was LJ's fault. <Run>

The line up shiny suggested was parts of both sides that played last night KM did say he was looking at partnerships to see who plays best together.
However I rather think it's more likely to be Cisse and Killkenny in centre midfield if we play 4-4-2 I can see Marvin playing more in a 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 set up otherwise he will be comming off the bench a lot to replace either Killkenny or Cisse or replacing either one if they are out of form or injured. Skuse looks like being the odd man out for most games will spend a lot of time on the bench unless we get a lot of injuries again or we are playing rubbish and KM needs to change everything around again.

Frankly Hawky, if he brings on Scuse because we are playing rubbish I will be worried.

100% disagree with you there hawk marvs been at the club 4 years now last season he played brilliant regardless of what others say, i seen a different player last year where he was very very attacking and was good at it too, he use to charge into the box and if the cross was directed at him he would win and get the odd goal

cisse, yes played well at the end of the season but i dont think that will be enough to push marvin out of the squad he started EVERY game last year, which means hes fit and milly obviously knows he is going to be in the starting 11, also he is 2nd in line to be the next captain after skuse and i cant see skuse playing next year so our captain next year will be marvin when louis dosent play

but like you said marv could play in a different formation, i wouldnt mind seeing this

Shiney its Killkenny who if anyone will cause Marvin to be out of the starting 11 Marvin isn't a defensive midfielder so Cisse and Skuse are our current choices for that role, which IMHO Cisse looked the better player towards the end of last season, the other place is between 4 players Marvin - Lee - JCR(he has played that role before both for us and other teams and our latest signing Killkenny now I can't see the point of signing Killkenny unless he is intended to play him at least at the start of the season so if we go 4-4-2 like I said Marvin will probably start on the bench at least thats how it looks at the moment, as for who to be captain if Louis not playing Louis will remain club captain but it might be James as his deputy on the pitch he afterall is used to shouting at players when needed or putting an arm round the shoulders at other times plus whatever anyone says about him(Calamity etc) noone can dispute he's played at the highest levels and has a lot of respect from his fellow professionals.

BRR perhaps I put that a bit baldly what I meant to say was if Cisse isn't performing(being rubbish), not the whole team, Skuse would get the nod instead.
Mind you is Skuse's future at RB ala Bradley Orr I would say that the games Skuse played at RB he looked better that Bradley did in his first games in that position as I rather think Ribs future is going to be as a footballing CB rather than RB although he does a good job there when he plays.

Don't forget Elliott can play at RB, remember Wembley!

Seriously, he can play there and may be our best option with a number of players available for CM.

Marv, Cisse and NK will start the first league game.
Cisse in front the back 4, NK in CM and Marv will get to both boxes and useful in both -
even Millen understands that.
Adomah, Stead and Maynard will make up the 6 who play in front the back 4.
Whether it be 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 these are the players Millen will pick.

Personaly I think KM should give young Joe Edwards a start in defence as he more than proved himself in the last few games of last season when brought in. Having said that i think it is ashame that we couldnt of signed Jordan Spence as he looks like one to watch for the future same as Caulker but as we need to keep the budget down give a trial to Edwards whilst looking for a loan signing from the prem...
