After Rodgers - contract signed but had a clause in his own contract which said if Liverpool came in for him then he could go there.
And Capello who wanted too much money.
How happy are we then that we've ended up with AVB? Could be a stroke of genius as he has something to prove or end up a disaster as a result of poor planning on the part of the board.
AVB was our third choice it is rumoured

===================
We dont want a manager who has something to prove though, we want someone who has already proved they have something. And in our league, AVB simply hasn't.
This argument is a bit dead in the water now, and i can see the Chelsea posters are now Wumming, when i doubt deep down they can be happy with their own man in charge.
RDM's 10 man backline or AVB's high back line? this is the question.

If we're honest the appointments of AVB, RDM and BR are all big risks.
I have a feeling that BR will do okay, RDM will do well and that AVB will completely fkk it all up.
Just my opinion.

Have you seen them all play in the same team yet? If not, your comment is pointless - at best.

If avb gets time and the fans are patient as well as the board then think he could do very well for spurs. He neds time to implement his ideas and sours could drop a few places in the league this season while he works on his style with a new squad.
It's the same for BR for us but with us finishing 8th then any improvement will be seen as a success while if spurs say get 5th or lower then some people will say he's failed which is ridiculous but that's football, from what I've seen avb still has the inner determination and speaks with sense and authority but he seems to have been humbled slightly by his Chelsea experience which I think will serve him well at spurs.
You could argue that it's good for a manager to have a bad time in one job as they learn from it and become better managers for it, BR was sacked at reading and ge says it's made him a better man and manager, Chelsea is obviously a much bigger job but it's the sane thing in principle.
Patience though patience is needed for spurs and lfc fans and boards alike

We`ve had a lucky escape if we were in for Roy Rodgers, I dont believe we were ever in for him or Crapello and AVB was the only candidate.
