Firstly, I barely ever write anything on here, but I am glue to this page as it has given me some true transfer info in the past.
Secondly - Levy and the transfer window.
I simply cannot believe that we are not actively trying to get a striker in. I do not think that AVB was brought here and told that he must sell before he can buy. And let's face it, Vertonghen and Sigurdsson were essentially ours before he arrived - plus Sigurdsson is quoted as saying he signed for Spurs because they are going places - so AVB / Levy must have sold him this vision. This vision must have included further investment - regardless of the Modric situation.
Finally - has anyone got Levy's email address? I found this from two years ago and found it funny...

Sorry for another email about transfers. I still hold out hope that we will sign two strikers and a keeper who are all busy at the Olympics. Hulk, Damiao and err... Butland?
But in reality, it's more likely to be Gordon Durie and Andy Booth.

Do people genuinely believe that we are not working our knackers off to bring in a new striker. I said the other day if we don't have a new striker by 31st August I will never post here again (no big loss I know) I am that confident that moves are happening, and as per usual it will go to the wire.

Why do we let it go to the wire? VdV was a great acquisition, but we know from the Berba deal that it can go wrong. Horribly wrong.
We might get Grant Holt on loan.

By the time the window shut we will have done a fair few deals.
If we were happy to pay the asking price everytime we'd be a lot worse off (millions and millions) than if we drive a hard bargain.
We are THFC, not City/CFC. Our resources are limited and we want the best we can possibly get at within our limitations.
If that means holding out then so be it...not ideal but better to have a Hulk & Mountinho on board come September (ok, i can dream) than an Holt & Allen already signed up.

AVB - if we take get in one striker and they get injured though...? We have a lot of games to play. I think we need to have 3 strikers on our books. I don't regard VdV or Gio as strikers.
