4-2-3-1 Does it suit us??

Hi lads, Im a newbie here but have decided to offer some of my thoughts on the formation that RDM has brought to the table. In my opinion this formation doesnt get the best out of the majority of our players. Heres why:

1) Torres- With 3 narrow attacking mids taking up all the space in the final third. It makes it too congested centrally for nando to get space. The oppostion defence can tuck in and will be easy to keep us from creating chances as seen in pre season.

2) The double pivot role- We only really have one player who suits this role.Mikel! We shouldnt be creating a team around Mikel and sacrificing the strengths of ramires, oscar and lampard!

3) Too many number 10s- Oscar, Mata and Hazard are all number 10s. In this system they will all want to come in centrally. This removes all width, leaves our full backs exposed and the midfield too congested. On paper it sounds amazing having these 3 awesome players sitting behind torres, weaving their magic, but in reality I dont think it will work. Again in pre season this appears to ring true.

Now I'm not a managerial expert and its hard to see the best way to fit in the talented players we have brought into the club. However what I can say is 4-2-3-1 doesnt look like its going to work as well as we all hope. If hazard can play right wing then a 4-3-3 with rami and oscar in the middle and mata and hazard playing wings looks more promising imo. This also gives mata and hazard less responsibility to track back as they would have to do in a 4231. It also gets the best out of rami and oscar who are class.

Would love to here your thoughts guys. Be easy on me its my first article!

Thanks Suberb. I understand completely what you are saying. And that was exactly my view until watching us in pre season. On the left Hazard hasnt looked great and it worries me him playing there. Also on the right if we get hulk great, but Zenit seem to have outpriced us there. Therefore being forced to rely on Moses doesnt fill me with confidence and ramires isnt best there either as his crossing is very suspect. It really is a bit of a conundrum atm, and I guess we have to wait and see how RDM plays it.

I think it all depends on who we bring in. At the moment it looks like Moses is coming to Chelsea and Cavani looks possible. I´d be happy with that although Hulk is still my first choice.

I think that come the start of the season we will know whether or not we have enough options in the squad.
