I think it's imperative we keep the frustratingly injury-prone Dane.
If we are to execute the style Rodgers expects we need CB's who are comfortable on the ball, excellent positionally and intelligent in play.
Another problem if Agger were to leave is Skrtel. His partnership with Agger is there for all to see, they compliment each other well and when Skrtel plays with a Carra or a Coates he looks lost and isn't the same player.
So far our team looks likely to be:
---------------Rena------------
Johnson--Skrtel--Agger--Enrique
-----------Allen---Lucas-------
Downing----Gerrard------Borini
---------------Suarez---------
Now, ideally i would not like us to lose one of the starting eleven, but instead lose those that are a) not good enough or b) don't fit the system.
For me, four players jump out in our first team squad:
a) Jay Spearing, Joe Cole
b) Charlie Adam, Andy Carroll
All have been linked with moves away and it's easy to see why given the way we are playing and the strengths and weaknesses of each player.
Off the top of my head i think Liverpool could make £20-£25m from those four, four who i think could be suitably replaced whilst keeping our top players at the club and improving our overall squad.
The problem is whilst out first eleven looks good, it's well known that Premier league football is a squad game and beyond our first eleven we lack major quality.
I feel if this is addressed in the coming weeks, we can be optimistic of Champions League Qualification.
Keeping Agger

I dont think anybody WANTS him to go but if he does go then its not the end of the world as some are making it out to be on here

Surely the ball is in LFC/FSG's court. If they don't offer Agger a new improved contract he'll have no option but to move on, regardless of how much he loves the club.

Should probably just cash in on Suarez and simply replace him tbh. Good point.

And i presume you will be supporting Suarez when he moves to his new club?

Just making a point.

Suarez has not hit his Liverpool peak yet, so it makes no financial sense to sell him now.
Agger has just had his best season for the club, the 27 league games he played being his equal most in a season with 2006-2007.
He has also just had a great Euro's, and is out of contract in 2 years.
Now is a great time to sell him, price wise, his value will only go down from here onwards.
It is sensible business to sell him now, but whether it is also sensible football will depend on who we replace him with, and what we do with the money we would get for him.
They are unknowns, but selling him is not necessarily a football negative.
I understand people not wanting to sell him, but am willing to look at the positives if we do.
Also we can't just blame FSG if he doesn't sign a new contract. None of us know what Agger is asking for, or what he is being offered (if anything).

If accepting £27m for Agger is what Buck thinks is best for the club then I'm happy with that.

Who was the player that ended up being made to train with the junior youth team to embarrass him into leaving but he still stayed for the money.Think it was arsenal but not sure??

The thing is if Agger turns down the move, I don't think BR will relegate him to the reserves or make him train with the kids. That makes no sence!
