Leven: I Deserved More

Oxford new-boy Peter Leven admits he was `gutted' to leave MK Dons but felt he deserved a better contract offer.

The 27-year-old midfielder shocked fans by dropping into League Two, with many believing he was destined for the Championship following his departure from stadium:mk.

Speaking to MKNEWS, Leven said: "There was a contract on the table but I didn't think that offer was right. I didn't think I deserved what was being offered."

Despite his disappointment, Leven is now looking forward to the new challenge of promotion with the Us.

"I was speaking to a few clubs from the Championship and League One but in the end I chose League Two.

"The facilities here are top class, they get a good crowd every week and it's close to home. I am looking forward to the challenge, I've never had a promotion in my career."

It must have been a big wake up call to discover that your replacement was already signed in March, you're not worth as much as you thought you were after all, and that the best offer was from down in L2...

But as he's never been promoted in his career, we're probably better off without the unlucky Jonah...

Typical footballer, I want more money. the truth is leven was a reasonable player for MK nothing more nothing less. He has got whate he deserves IMO

he is not as important for us as chadders or gleeson and will be easilly replaced

I think that a bit cruel on Peter Leven, who is say Winkie didn't offer less and he felt he wasn't valued? Although it does remind me of Ince when he saw Beckham and Scholes coming through he was out of ManUre in a flash.

Surely he was talking about the length of contract rather than the money. Oxford can't pay more can they?

One would have thought he'd have a reasonable chance of promotion with us...he's a big loss and I can't help thinking that KR might come to regret this as the 'one who got away'.
