Ok – so I created an article yesterday on this forum basically saying that I felt that RVP should start the game ahead of Rooney. I felt that for the Everton game we should play 1 up front (due to our weakened defence) and as long as Fergie felt that RVP was fit enough and ready to slot right in then he should be first choice.
Needless to say that my article was met with rejection – basically most people just called me a WUM and a lot of people calling me stupid, clueless etc…
I tried to back up my argument by saying that Rooney’s overall game was poor last season, his first touch was poor, passing etc yet this was met with more abuse (but never a debate, just abuse)
Yet looking at the board today, it seems there is a lot of negativity towards Rooney after his poor performance and not nearly as much ‘protection’ for him from other posters
My question is this – is it only safe to criticise Rooney straight after a game because if you leave it more than one day, blinkered fans tend to forget his poor performances and call you stupid??
Criticism of Rooney allowed???

A classic example of why I decided to take my posts else where.
If you disagree with something, put forward a decent argument/debate (re funrob) instead of coming out with this childish dribble all the time.
I used to joke about it, but I genuinely think now, the football quarters of this forum are made up predominantly of posters no older than 12.

Overrated player who is good only at using the service of players better than him. You know all those things regarded as special, passing, defending (hilarious) so many players exist that can do the same probably at a cheaper price. Therre is literally no one who is the focus of our offence who has ever failed to bang in goals. It is facetious to believe rooney is that special that's why he scores so many goals. Even berbatov scored piles of goals. Hernandez amassed an impressive goal per game ratio. Put in enough crosses as united do and whoever is being targeted will score buckets.
If you want to stand out you do what people like ronaldo did. Score when there was no idea how the goal would come, do something no one else can do. Make that half chance look like a tap in.
Why do you think fergie has gone after every young player with a bit of pace and flair? Because he knows having rooney as "the best player on your team" is as futile an exercise can ever be (as can be seen for engurland)
I hear the "he carries us" statement and I laugh. I cannot remember the last time he has been unarguably recognised as the best player in a season in spite of his goals. It is hilarious really. I know what I see, I do not see greatness there, just a guy who is living on his past glory as a game changer.

This is my favorite comment ever.

I hope it's your favourite comment because you see how silly it is and as an Arsenal supporter you would kill for a player like Rooney. (Not a criticism of you or Arsenal, more the comment you were hopefully mocking)

OP, quit your futile attempts at being the 'voice of reason'.
Rooney divides opinion here. Some fans here have critiqued Rooney for a while now and others mistake 'critiquing' for 'criticising' and get their panties in a twist.

I am not trying to be the voice of reason - I am annoyed that when I created a sensible article looking for a debate, it was met with most people calling me stupid and a wum.
But the next day, half the people on these boards agree with me.
The point I am trying to make is that come Saturday morning if I suggest that RVP should get a place ahead of Rooney, I will be slated!!!
People on these boards have very short memories...

Spot on, especially regarding someone scoring a goal out of nothing like CR7, Rooney is a flat track bully, yes he will probably score a hatrick against Fulham, that doesn't make him world class

I agree with this - i have a mate who wont have a bad word said about Rooney. Two seasons ago when we where 2 down to Blackpool Rooney was brought off and he sat and complained we had no chance now, had to say to him to wise up he has been awful - 30 mins later we where 3 -2 up and he was jumping around the bar.
He still cant accept it when Rooney is having a bad game because he is his favourite. You see it all the time on this board the people who have Rooney or Nani as their favourites wont have anything bad said against them event when they have had stinkers like they both did last night!

"Go somewhere else then?"
I probably will by the end of the week. Especially if that lickbottom 'Arab of Manchunia' or whatever he was called is still around.

Which of my arguments is not clear enough for you?
Very strange post.
