In fairness, we never do well in these sort of games. Even Rafa, the much heralded genius in Europe, saw his team win 2 -1 on aggregate over Grazer AK on the way to the Champion's League win.

You can't read too much into these sort of games. YEs it would be nice to turn these teams over, but at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter.

so far this season has been exactly like last. create lots of chances. can beat the big sides but struggle to put away the lesser sides.

I wish you were right, but the fact is we wont score enough goals this season with the squad we have. That's not a criticism you could level at Rafa's team.

I agree ARE, we look lightweight up front. BUT, I can't honestly see that we would let big Andy leave without having a replacement ready. We need a goalscorer, no doubt about it.

I was surprised that Gerrard and Suarez played the full match. Here's hoping they are fully recovered for Sunday's game. Suarez I'm sure will be fine, but Gerrard isn't getting any younger.
