Deadline Day is always fast and frenetic and gets people worked up, and I can understand the frustration as it slowly becomes clear that there are no big moves happening.
But let's all take a deep breath. I'm about to go outside and actually play some football, and I suggest you do too, it's good for you. Get off JA/Twitter/SSN for a bit, go outside, enjoy the weather, have a beer. Because I have seen some ridiculous panic articles and comments today.
To the person who wanted Wenger out: it looks like we might be in a battle for top 4 again which is regrettable, but I don't need to tell you that Wenger has a better record than anyone when it comes to top 4. He doesn't even handle negotiations anyway.
I would love us to sign a good DM. We need it. Another option up-front maybe as well. But the fact is that if there aren't any such deals available then there is no point just throwing the money at any old DM. That is not ambition, that is waste. Tiote would be a transfer record, yet he is painfully average. Cabaye is good but similar to Arteta. And speaking of which, Arteta has played the DM role very well so far, and although I'd like a more physical option there is nothing wrong with utilising him that position until January, and of course there is Coquelin.
Remember that Arsene knows, so let's keep our fingers crossed for a signing that is big not necessarily in terms of the fee but in terms of quality this evening. And if, as seems likely, nothing materialises, let's get behind the team on Sunday, with Chelsea and Spurs strengthening they will need our support to secure the top 4 trophy once again
Let's all calm down

Whatever happens happens lads, nothing we do or say will change that. Just try and enjoy the actual football.

I still think we might have something up our sleeve too.

Can't see it happening myself, surely we would have heard something by now

A lot can happen still and we are the kind of club to keep things very quiet. I reckon we'll bring in at least one.

I really admire some of the optimism from you guys, but there's no point fooling ourselves!
The irony is its more likely that we'll sell another key player rather than reinforce the squad.
Its both baffling and depressing
Why are they doing this to us???

Sadly the direction the club is now taking is not one of ambition. Gazidis told us that the ticket price increases would have a direct influence in strengthening the squad.
This has proven to be (like many other promises) false.
While it is good to see some of the deadwood (or a part of their salary) being moved on, I feel that the lack of depth in our squad will be exposed again this season.
Following the surplus on playing trading last year, the Queensland development cash (estimated £30m) and this year’s surplus there is ample amounts of money available to strengthen, or at worst replace.
Hard to be optimistic about the club’s future under the current regime.

"Anyone up for a kick about?"
Yeah I definitely would be if I hadn't got other plans.
