If you want to talk finance Mick, how about this. If the average price for a season ticket is 250 then to cover the rent we have to sell 4,000 season tickets. That only covers the rent, no wages etc.

Now, if we were able to have the rights to sublet the Stadium,( ie Pop concerts etc) and to run and take the profit from the bars and restaurants, then it would not be a bad deal. As it is the Rovers are able to make NO income from the Stadium despite the large rent.

If we were to be asked to pay the cost of building the Stadium, and, if the economy was good, it would be a bad proposition. However, the council are prepared to sell at a very low price ( compared with what it cost to build), just to get it off their hands. Now is the perfect time for the club ( directors, or new investors) to aquire the ground and surrounding land.

I have been critical of JR in the past and taken issue with him personally but you are wrong when you make the comments above. No one can doubt that he is a very successful sales man, knows how to communicate and gets feed back on what supporters feel. If you read the original article you will see that he is talking to supporters who have canvassed other supporters and discussed improvements. As a result the club can respond to criticism. If that’s not a sign of a Chairman who cares for the average supporters views I don't know what is.
He strikes me as a Chairman who does care and puts his money were his mouth is.

Where have I ever said “I know best” that is your perception of what I have written and again I think you are wrong. I always try to look at the oppositions views and adjust my opinion accordingly. I have tried to do that with your comments but I am sorry to say I can not see any sense in them. You fail to give facts to support your comments you have made. In my argument I have tried to support my views with facts which are verifiable.

Secondly - Steady there because although I agree with you about feeding family and buying clothes which has always been my argument, there are those on this site who wear silly glasses and you might find them attacking your every comment as they did me.

Does JR give a monkey's about the ordinary fans? I think he has to do. They are the punters and, anyone in business will tell you that if you stop looking after customers, you end up without any.

On season tickets, on the past two lots of ST sales figures, work is needed although I'm going to qualify that.

On the face of it, 5000 in ST sales isn't enough for the club. Consider Brighton who have sold 17000 STs. at a minimum of £395 each.

Rovers won't and can't come close to that. But what would be interesting is how many seats are filled each game and what's the average price paid. This will show if the club are getting the multi-game packages right.

The thing about ticket prices is that you can't really help those fans who genuinely have difficulty clothing the kids and putting dinner on the table, apart from the odd promotional game where prices are dropped. Football is now a luxury product in Britain. Plenty of fans, sadly can't afford it. I'm not saying whether that's right or wrong. It's simply true.

On buying the ground. It could happen. From what I've heard, the council /SMC have made a pig's ear of the running of the KM. It runs at a loss, so they may consider off-loading it. I can't think of anyone else who would want it and who have the money to buy it.

If our directors want the KM, and are given the chance to buy it, affording the price-tag shouldn't be a problem. It will depend on other strings attached to the deal.

Anyone know how the Keepmoat naming rights deal is for?

You'd think if we are paying £1m rent a year we may as well try and buy it on a morgage and instead pay off some of the morgage each year, atleast then the money is going towards an asset rather than being wasted on rent.

I believe the Keepmoat deal was for 5 years and may be up at the New year

Wow have we really been there nearly 5 years. Feels like just yesterday we moved in!

Would need to have the stadium purchased before christmas for it to be worth it then.
