Coyle spoke in the summer about understanding Sordells frustrations at not getting game time, but suggested his 'old pros' where performing well enough to keep their place. In the end it was 1 win in the last 7 that cost us...
So far Coyle has kept with Davies and we are 1 win in 4 in the championship..
I'm not sure Coyle can look to a great results record to keep Davies in, or the wonderful football we produce with him in the side...
I'm not really sure where a situation will arise when Coyle decides to change it.. We've got 3 decent lads up front who in this league should be competitive..
The caveat and actual answer to the OP though is 'Yes, when the occasion is right, SKD should start games.. But he should not be the first choice shoe in that he currently appears to be'
Good scouting and reports will suggest there are teams when the SKD affect will prove fruitful..

He might simply drop him but the Thing that stands out for me is him retaining the captaincy. You need your captain to be a regular starter so I would say to Afobe and Sordell wear two pairs of underwear on match day to avoid the splinters. Especially when Ngog is back.

In truth I think SKD has worked his way up the ladder of importance within the club since his arrival... He looked like a quiet fella with the Djorkeaff's and Diouf's around him, but I think he's got the 'John Terry' affect now..
His wife and the Chairman chat regular on twitter & it's clear with his Charity events and Captains responsibilies, he has kudos..
I'm not convinced the current management set up would have the same ability as past managers to stick a rocket up SKDs rear end..
But then...... Could you attract blame to Kevin?.. He's 35 and slower (then previously being fairly slow) & not as good...
Or
He's not got good players around him anymore.. Would Nolan, Diouf, Stelios & Anelka still feed off him...?
More questions than answers on the debate of Kevin Davies..

Clegg has his opinion .... but surely at 35 even Clegg will admit it's time to move on from SKD.
Or keep the younger lads out for another season?
IMO it's playing with 10 men when SKD is in the team. Only because the aimless nod ons come right back at us....and the lack of control usually leads to the same thing.
Are the other options any better? we will never find out while the Scotsman leaves them on the bench

i at least can understand your opinion here, however its main fault is, the "aimless nod ons". The nod ons have always been aimless, its virtually impossible to get them all with decent direction, the problem is OC doesnt set up the team to deal with it, like big Sam did. He still instructs Knight etc to get it up there, but then leaves SKD completely on his own, no midfield back up at all. OC is clueless seriously! Big Sam used to have 3 or four of our men within around 10-20 yards of SKD when it was lobbed up, ud have Stelios and Diouf flanking and perhaps nolan backing up. Now, its up to skd (i might add, he doesnt have to win the ball, to deem it a success) he either flicks on, or causes enough trouble so the defender cant deal with efficiently, and a melee is caused where our "advancing" players have the upper hand, because they are attacking the ball.
What used to happen, to counteract this, defences used to go narrow, to make up more numbers around SKD n pick up our runners, which left loads of space out wide, so say if stelios picked up the ball quite centrally, it may have been sprayed wide to diouf to get a cross in, to the other 4 men who havent been involved much. That narrowness from the defence, forces there wide men to have to drop deep, thus elliviating (cant spell that word lol) the pressure on our full backs, which also in turn reduces pressures on centre midfielders to have to cover more ground running out into wide areas to protect full backs. The system just works. it does have its faults, e.g better teams have gifted individuals who perhaps may be better than SKD in the air, or able to defend better against Diouf, Stelios etc. and particularly mobile forwards did well against us, because for this to work our midfield had to be quite big and strong. Trust me, watch the videos this happened time and time again, i have personally analysed it, and i have seen it analysed on TV pritty much to the same affect.
Now our midfield, neither gets up to support the flick on, nor sits back and builds play from the back, and attack together.
It sits back and doesnt support, whilst the ball is being knocked up to an exposed SKD, making him look bad.
i agree we are going to have to move on from SKD, and perhaps that style, i say perhaps because i think Ngog has shown potential in that kind of role. The problem is the teams neither here nor there, no specific style and also not adaptable. Which is why i dont rate OC.
Not forgetting tho, that SKD has been our statiscally best player this season, yet we still call for him to be dropped. Honestly i cant grasp this!

After reading the paper today that N'Gog is in fine form in training I expect to see SKD dropped for Watford tomorrow. I want to see N'Gog and Sordell if it's to be a 4-4-2 and SKD rested and used as an impact sub. If OC starts SKD after speaking about Ngog today then he is even more of a muppet than I realised.
Yes SKD might have been one of our best players in the first 4 games, but we've played rubbish in every one of them. Time to drop SKD. I still love hom tho!
