with the ball at their feet??
Which are the players that can run the fastest with the ball at their feet?
We all know that the likes of Walcott, Lennon, Isla etc are one of the fastest footballers. But they tend to slow down when they run with the ball.
So who are the fastest players with the ball? I think Antonio Valencia is the fastest player with the ball at his feet. Messi and Ronaldo both are scarily fast too. Muniain seems to be very rapid.
I saw a stat last season which said Tony V was the fastest player with Ronaldo coming close second. Its incredible that Valencia is so fast even after suffering from a career threatening injury. Which other players can you think of who are rapid?
For test conditions lets assume over 100m
FASTEST PLAYERS

does bale count 'with the ball'? Considering his dribbling consists of punting it down the line and chasing.

I think Ribery is quite fast.

Surprised no one has mentioned Lucas Moura. Maybe people havent seen enough of him yet, but he is honestly one of the fastest players I have seen with the ball at his feet.

I hate to bring up FIFA, guys, but there is a player on it called Willian who has 99 speed and acceleration or something daft.
Anyway it coerced me to youtube him and it is quite silly how fast he looks in comparison to his, albeit not as athletic as a 'big league' player, opposition.

comment by Red_Indian aka Jones Is The Next Baresi . One moment he is the best striker in the world, the next he is old, injury prone and overrated. (U15493)

One of the things I will never forget is the first time I ever saw Giggsy live at OT.
God was he quick.

Agree with Red Russian - as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't mean kicking the ball 10 or 20 yards, rushing after it, then kicking it again, rushing, etc. I'd understand it as running while maintaining good close control over the ball, which imo generally involves short sprints that have more to do with acceleration than actual top speed.
Messi and Neymar would prob among the fastest in those terms; Robben might be in with a shout too, and Barcelona B kid Gerard Deulofeu is v fast too.
Also, why over 100 metres, when in a real footy match you'd rarely never be looking for a player to run anywhere near that distance with the ball at his feet? Even if you're not looking at close control, the longest sprint you might be looking at is perhaps around 60m, and even that is pretty rare.
