This weekend just goes to show yet again our squad is to small with only five subs named. I am NOT advocating getting players in just for the sake of making up the numbers, we do need good players, there are a number of players out there who could come in.
We have four or five strikers (according to Robinson) but IMO a striker is a player who scores goals, our strikers don't; this makes them midfielders.
Yet again we have defensive problems with injuries and suspensions, Robinson and the backroom staff should take this into consideration when looking at how many players are needed.
Come on Robinson put some effort in and look abroad if needed. Get some new scouts.

SQUAD IS TOO SMALL

Having looked at all the comments on my original artical it would appear that most would say that we "LACK PACE" in attack and defence.
We have not had anyone since Dyer from Ince's first spell in charge, it begs the question "Are there NO players out there" or "Do they NOT want to come to the Dons"
I am sure Robinson knows what he needs, if he doesn't know he should not be our manager.
I am sure he does so it MUST be the scouts who are NOT getting the sesults.

My answer is either Mcloud or Donaldson.
Both have pace, Izale misses lots of chances but with the amount of chances we can create he should still score plenty of goals, I am not saying he is brilliant but what we have at the moment isnt working.
Not sure how Donaldsons situation stands or how much he would cost.
This isnt a new problem its about 4 years in the making.
Tranmere are scoring plenty of goals where did they get their strikers, also a guy at Port Vale is getting plenty of goals and Kedwell of Gillingham, although this could be tricky as I think he played for AFCW.
Perhaps we need a bigger named coach that Ian Wright to attract strikers , think he scored the odd goal for Arsenal.

Some rumours seem to indicate Jonathan Forte as a ptential striker - but it feels like having moved Jabo out on loan and looks like Lowe will be heading out on loan (Bury latest rumour - from top to bottom) we are going to be getting at least one new striker and quite possibly two......intersting end to the week

It defies all logic to have 4 strikers and have 2 of them out on loan - especially with the lack of goals.

I think Ryan Lowe's unhappy here, he's not on the bench because he's not good enough or anything, he just doesn't feel at home by the looks of it, which is understandable.
Donaldson would be costly, especially given we're in the same division and rivals if you like.
I don't think Kedwell being a former AFCW player will bring anything into it, same way as it didn't effect Drewe Broughton when he signed for AFCW having formerly played for MK Dons. I think the only problem with that is Martin Allen not being willing to lose his best player when they're at the top of League 2, especially for a short price when we have no option to splash the cash on him.

I think it's a bit understandable from Lowe's point of view. He said he got fed up being on the bench at Sheffield Wednesday and he comes here (with no doubt the big sell) and finds himself playing 2nd fiddle again. At 34 he must think there are not may games left and wants to play for a club where he can get regular football.
Similarly Jabo must have seen himself as fourth or fifth in the pecking order and often the only player not playing and not on the bench.
Its a saving not playing a reserve or developmental side but it means those not playing do see themselves as being ostracised and Winkie philosophy of letting players who want to go leaves us short.
We need players who can fit into the team, can make the difference and who are squad players. Not easy I grant you, but that's what Alex Rae is there for and if it means going non league or aboard so be it. I am available for any scouting missions in Brazil if needed (reasonable expenses).

Even abroad.

The thing is Lowe hasnt done much to earn a first team place.
I had big expectations from him, but perhaps being a big fish at Bury suited him more rather than not being the main man with us and Sheffield Weds.
I am still wondering what Ian Wright is doing to earn his money.
I was a big admirer of him as a player, perhaps he would do better with younger players rather than 34 year old's.

Think people are being harsh on Wrighty, being a World Class striker once upon a time gives you no right to magically force the ability to play well beyond your capabilities to some of our players.
Lowe was overhyped, and granted I also done that but there was a worry he'd not be the 20 goal a season striker we thought he could be. What I do like though is that this is all happening now and not in March when we need to have players. For all we know, by February we could have sold Ibehre and Lowe and signed one or two other decent players who could help us push on!
