Is this the most overrated shot in cricket? I was talking to a couple of Indian programmers at work and they were eulogising about this shot that I had never heard of so I went on Youtube to see it and came with this:

All I see from that shot is a right arm jab followed by a girly swivel? Players like Viv Richards, Inzi, Samit Patel etc can play that shot without showing any feminine side. So is this shot skill or just some infatuation from one particular nation?

Ajmal and Hafeez also use the pause and I think it's an art to have a pause and still bowl so accurate. If batsman are going to premeditate then the bowlers have every right to do this.

The Dilscoop actually has a purpose though. It lobs the WK and goes for a certain boundary, so it's more than acceptable in my eyes.
That helicopter thing... there's no need for the swirl at the end. What does it actually achieve? It's more than likely just Dhoni allowing the momentum from the shot to expire.

I remember Yuvraj hitting a six in a T20 match one time though... it was awesome. He just hit it to his right, it didn't go very high at all, might have hit the advertising boards near the boundary. I'll try and find it

The reason for this shot is to dig the full length delivery out of the block hole. He stays back and and swings his bat through the line of the ball.
This is actully a smart shot. There is really no other way of playing a well bowled yorker.

While Inzi, Patel and Richards can only dig the yorker out, Dhoni can smoke them for 4s and 6s with the power he generates from the shot.
