So at the end of Coyles tenure, I think we had all decided that it was time for him to go...
Now that we have Freedman in, what do we expect? Are we giving him time to bed in? Obviously we want him to hit the ground running but can we really expect that? There is already a lot of pressure on him to produce some results from the off.
I am interested to see how fans react after a year of Freedman being in charge. He'll have to go some to improve on Coyles first 12 months in the manager position.
In the 12 months since he was appointed on Jan 5th 2010, in the league, Coyle achieved;
Played 41
Won 13 = 31%
Drew 12 = 29%
Lost 16 = 39%
I don't have fixtures for the Cup matches, but we must've won 6 more games as we got to the semi final. Bear in mind that this impressive record was achieved in the premier league as well, climaxing at getting as high as 8th in the table.
Coyle also brought a more attractive style of play and higher attendances.
Will Freedman achieve something similar? Well, he'll do well to, in my opinion.
For him to match or better Coyles first 12 months, he'll have to make some changes. Possibly taking a leaf out of Jimmy Phillips book. PLaying players in their correct positions, like Mark Davies excelling in central midfield and Petrov adding a certain balance to our side.
I would still like to see more of Sordell and N'Gog. I think they have goals in them, or at least chances.
I am very interested to see people reactions to Freedman in 10-12 months time, will they be saying that he is great, even if he doesn't achieve what Coyle managed in his first 12 months?

Freedman came in to his last job at Palace with the club seemingly doomed to relegation. He saved them and the season after got them to a semi final (league cup). In losing said semi final the team didn't go on a massive downward spiral and instead sit in the higher reaches of their league.
So he may not have won the champion's league 4 times or won bestist manager ever but he's done the best he can with the club he was at and I hope he continues this upward trajectory with us.

TRR - put that finger away. Deleting comments is not the correct approach. You have been involved in a legendary spat on here remember!!
Back on topic. Freedman deserves a decent crack at this. His first few games are certainly tough. I just hope the fans give him a reasonable settling in period.

He has to take Bolton back up at the end of this season - that's a minimum ask in my book, no matter who they appointed ....
