TRANSFER BUDGETS

According to a wise old sage on here and his fellow Warnock bashers NW has had suffcient money to spend but just hasn't spent it wisely and in any event, not many clubs have money to spend in the Championship anyhow. In the latter respect the wise old sage's exact comments are as follows:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He's got no funds you argue but generally speaking very few clubs in this league actually have.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, while i will grant you that Varney look's a shocker and a complete waste of £200k I have to say that when spending even huge sums you cannot guarantee they will come off.NW had to wheel and deal an incredible number of players so there is always this risk.

I calculate that he has spent approx £2m whilst recouping more than that amount with player sales.

Now, if we look at the rest of the championship (who according to the 'wise old sage' have no money to spend either then we can take a sample of the following clubs and the amounts spent so far this season:

1) Blackburn - £14m

2) Cardiff - £6.5m

3) Forest - £5m

4) Wolves - £5M

5) Leicester - £5m

6) Hull - £4m

7) Udders £3m

8) Derby - £3m

9) Burnley - £2.5m

10) Bristol City = £2.5m

11) Bolton = £2.5m

This is the major sample of the big spenders thus far and does not include expensives loans and or big wages on freebies. Udders for example with Vaughan & Beckford and Blackburn with the likes of Nunon Gomez. Forest are the same with the likes of Jenas. You can also bet your bottom dollar that many of these sides will splash big in January.

Interesting point is that our single biggest fee is Pearce (who Wakey doesn't rate at all along with Lees, Becchio and you get the picture) at £500K. Now, Blackburn splashed a reported £8m on Rhodes plus £3m on Leon Best whilst most of the rest all paid a £1m or more for individual players. Burnley spent more than a million on Shackell whilst Hull spent £2.5m on a German striker. Derby spent a million onKeogh whilst second from bottom Bristol City splashed £1.25m on Sam Baldock and a further £800m on Steven Davies. Of course, the relegated sides with parachute payments will always hold the whip hand but, that's the same most seasons.

Most of these sides like your Leicester's and Cardiff's added big money on top of already expensively assembled squads and also pay huge wages. Leicester squad so strong that they could dispose of £5m Matt Mills and also release Beckford on loan - amazing !!

Now putting all of this into perspective and comparing the amounts involved to what NW has spent and how hastily arranged the squad has been unlike other established squads then you can see that NW has had it all to do and has been at a distinct and clear disadvantage. The alleged ongoing saga of a takeover has compounded and hindered our progress even further - FACT.

So you see, after a few negative results of late and the false expectation of early season results and the marvellous win over Everton there isn't real justification to pillory and condemn NW as the trolls have been doing.

Realism is a difficult concept i know particularly for the half wit who lives further down the MI in Wakey Wakey land but, I do suggest that even the wise old sage who spouted earlier today about transfer budgets within the championship that he takes a large dose and appreciate that NW has not been that well supported when the money he has spent is only after dismantling the playing squad almost completely and flogging of the remaining talent.

i have been accused of blind faith but, i think what we are really talking about here is blind hatred and the trolls know who they are so wakey wakey now chaps.

Este - it's only Jonty I have deleted and do you not know that he regularly uses the filter option ? SD - welcome aboard and good evening - Wacky Wakefield thought the article was aimed at him (bless) but knew that you're superior intellect would eventually come to the fore !! Think I should retract the idiot jibe I aimed at you earlier and replace it with misguided soul. Would that be better and less caustic to the masses ?

You can call me what you like, I've been called worse. If nothing else its opened up a debate where most have been allowed to venture their opinion. The bottom line is that we all want a successful Leeds United, the rest is incidental. At least we agree on Varney

SD - and so say all of us !! Incidentally, I 'supported' the Varney signing when it was made largely on past performances when I had been impressed by him. However, Thus far he has been a big mistake and u wonder whether he will realise any value at all. I'm sure we all hope he does but wouldn't want to hold one's breath in that regard. My last comment is something which I want you to take to bed with you and to whisper sublimally to Mrs Stevie throughout the night - " I do like NW I do like NW I really do " ..............sweet dreams !!!

My wife is a social worker and would have me committed if I uttered anything like that! I sit in the West Stand and admit to finding him amusing but just don't think he's Leeds United. Misguided Sage that I am....

It's just Benny being hypocritical Este.

Btw here's the pap he deleted:

So gf giving us 2 mill to help fund running of club and acquiring players is hindering us?

Very sad that you go to great lengths to create an article purely to have a pop at fellow fans who actually go to games unlike yourself.

Speaks volumes about you.

Why bother with speculation when you can have the
facts, here are the facts: We trade and deal in the
Championship, the resources of the club, or the
chairman do not stretch to make a significant impact
in the league...if the takeover goes through I will be
delighted if they can or will throw more significant
transfer cash at better quality players...personally I
don't think there will be much more than we presently
have...hence we have to deal with the lesser quality
of players and managers in the Championship, that's
what we trade in now and the personnel in this league
are very much level...the better quality in managers
and players are in the PL.

Changing managers and players again will hardly
change one iota...we cant attract a better manager yet,
we've sent too many down the road for it to be an
attractive proposition, manager of LUFC.
