Rovers unveil Bryan Douglas stand

I'm going to guess which it is without looking at the link:
The Darwen End?
Either way, it's a good touch and one I've been hoping would happen before he passed on.

Well I suppose it's only fair seeing as we have the Ronnie Clayton Blackburn End.

Bryan Douglas was an extremely gifted footballer(wing mostly)turn a game around with a wonderful dribble or shot.I saw him in the last few years of his career at Rovers. He took a lot of knocks which shortened his Rovers playing days. This is a wonderful move by our club to name the Darwen End after him.I still remmember that great team he played in he is a Rovers Legend and now will always be remmembered.

It is a nice touch but its also making the best of a bad situation.
The bad situation being that stand used to have the name of the last major commercial sponsor to stick with the club.

Are we actually looking for a sponsor this season? I've heard nothing about it this time around.
Not even the Prince's Trust again? What about Dog's Trust?

I'm just waiting for Venkys to turn up on the shirts again.

Its as if Venkys have given up with sponsors. So either:
1. They're footing the loss.
2. Our debt is increasing (which it pretty much definitely is).
3. There's gonna be one epic firesale if we don't get promoted this season.

Wonderful news! Finally my hero gets the recognition he richly deserves. Med mi day, thanks!
Memories Star.... (are we the oldest farts on here?) ...his "dummy" sold to every defender, they knew which way he was going turn, they just couldn't be sure and he could change in a flash. He has (not had, yet) that low centre of gravity like so many great players including Messi today, and was surprisingly hard to knock off the ball for a little 'un.
Dougie was a tireless player, covering back, nipping up the wing and tackling hard as he could on the guys trying to kill him, referees were much less strict then and I sometimes wondered how Dougie ever got up.
He wasn't a pointer and shouter, but as a ball holder he could play for the foul (not as good a diver as Franny Lee who would get the Oscar over Suarez any day). He had such a clever footy brain, I think he invented the stop-start penalty, he even passed once with a penalty (can you imagine doing that today!). Had he gone to United or Spurs like we all expected he would have been an international hero like B. Charlton.
He had a great understanding with Ronnie C, less so with Harry Leyland (leading to a perfect own goal lob against Burnley once just in case "Lovin it" is watching)
He also did the occasional header, one for England at Wembley against Russia I think.
Happy days on the Darren end, huddled under mi collar, the wind whipping smoke over Ewood off t'railway shed, rain drifting in under the roof as always, Bovril in one hand, hang on this is starting to sound like a Monty Python sketch!
Thanks for the good news, up the new Rovers!
Happy Duggy
