Excitement kicking in!

Greetings fellow Town fans. I commented on a thread yesterday, but thought id formally introduce myself today! I'm a long time follower of 606/ja606 and a part-time poster. Although the lastime i posted under this name was in the days of RGT!

Anyway having read cas' first team squad listing for the upcoming season, and after decent reports with regards to our new signings, the belief (that word again!) and optimism for the upcoming season is nicely creeping back into my mind-set again. We can quite comfortably IMO field 2 quality league 1 teams.

1st Team
Smithies
Woods P.Clarke Cooper Naysmith
Ward Johnson Gobern Mcdermott
Rhodes Novak

2nd Team
Bennet
Hunt Mcombe Kay Ridehalgh
Arfield Miller Gudjohnson Roberts
Lee Cadz

Left over :- Colgan and Gregg Pearson

sell N.Carke, T.Clarke and Simpson, loan out Atkinson and give Crooks and Cham a further season in the academy.

Playing Arfield out wide isnt the best place to play him, but he can do it. If Roberts does go a winger will def be needed and we still need that illusive striker that we all keep banging on about. I vote for a Benik Afobe-Chuks Aneke combo, there supposedly meant to be almost telepathic on the pitch!! If only Arsene Wenger could see the light!!

Myth, have you been playing Football Manager too much lol!

To be honest, the formations we have all given are a slight tweak or alteration to the stereotypical 4-4-2, 4-5-1 and 4-3-3 formations. LC just needs to tweak them to get the right result! Im sure he can do it though with the players at his disposal!

I see that Cooper got a full 90 tonight alongside Kay. That seems a good alterantive partnership at the CB positions to me, what do you guys think?

PC is a definate starter for me and its a fight between LC and AK for the 2nd slot at CB. Ill gor for LC but only due the pace factor i commented on earlier.

PC is the 1st name on the team sheet every week..
AK is a good CB, but poo in CM
LC (liam cooper) is the best partner for PC, based on Gateshead game only..
JM is on a par with AK as CB..
So all in all I'm at piece with our CBs, & FBs for that matter...

id PC is FN on the TS , whos the SN on the TS and which FB would you put on the TS and what about all the CM's we have and which CF's shoud go on the TS is it JR and LN or JR and AL , what about LN and AL

do we go with one CF with DM roaming behind with GR and DW on the wings if we do which CF , JR LN or AL ...and if we do that which holding CMs do we use TM and OG or DJ and OG ....will a more experienced TM and DJ work ....and where does that leave JG and SA

LC will really have his work cut out with the TS on game day
all sounds like BS to me right now though

( ale is going down well tonight lads )

Brilliant MN!!!! defo gave me a little chuckle, after a few of canadas finest and a few vodkas or "highballs" as there called out here, it took me about half an hour to decipher it all. As i have now forgotten all of the above, other than your 1st question, I believe Donaldo should be the 2nd name on the Teamsheet. But the question i ask is, who is the 3rd??

which part of Canada are you in Yapp
i'm always interested to get to know the Terrier ex-pats who come onto the boards ...especially considering you have also ventured to the frozen north like myself

to be honest i'm not sure who would be the third name on the team sheet but i like the way the team was set up yesterday it had a solid defense base with very fast and mobile attacking players . would be interesting to see how this formation performed in the league , i guess we'll fins out soon ....

the only changes i think i would make to the starting 11 from yesterday would be P Clarke for Kay ...and Maybe Johnson for MIller but thats a tough one we all know johnson is class at this level but Miller really hasnt put a foot wrong since hes been here

@Jimbo, the nearest AK should get to the TS is the stands... (preferably the stands of a different team in a different league in a different country...)

@Mnts, SA is an "attacking midfielder". That, for me, suggests that he would be "cover" for DM OR will play behind JR if GR leaves and DM will play on the wing.

JG will be cover for OG, he didn't pull up any trees for me last season, disappointingly, and I see him as more of a squad player rather than a FN on the TS this season.

@TYT, Crooks needs game-time, he needs a quality loan spell at a decent L2 side. If he plays a full season in L2 he will come back next season challenging for a place in the Championship first team...

Our team, come Bury is thus:

-------------- Smithies/Bennett -------------- (I prefer Bennett)

Hunt --- P.Clarke ------ Cooper--- Naysmith

--------- Johnson ---------- Gobern ----------

Ward ---------- McDermott --------- Roberts

-------------------- Rhodes --------------------

And I like it

in St-Paul Minnesota yapp

i'm very familiar with cold and snow , we had a bad winter last year , having a scorching summer too has hit 100 F a few times the past few weeks....

since the turn of the year we've had a over a 100F swing in temps in just 6 months...crazy

anyway back to footie

i agree that Arfield is an attacking midfielder but he really was disappointing last season. if some fo the key playmakers get injured and we have to rely on Arfield to be the playmaker i think its back to 4-5-1 hoofball i'd rather see a young un given a run out, but thats just my personal opinion

I think playing behind a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 like above would demonstrate SA's natural position. His game and style of play is perfectly suited to the role, IMHO, and I can see him performing brilliantly there (if given the chance).
