Rumours like wallcott and huntelaar are unlikely to happen, lets be honest. don't get me wrong we should certainly make a move for these guys. To sign both would vastly improve our side. however i think neither shalke nor arsenal will sell for a 'cut price deal.' they'll both still cost around the £15million mark. plus both player's wages will be very high. huntelaar for me hoever would be well worth the investment and if there's a possibility that he would come then by all means go all out for it.
Personally i can't see him wanting to join us. i'm surprised other sides like chelsea haven't been linked with him bearing in mind he's out of contract next year. i think we should push very hard for a deal for bilbao striker llorente. he's not currently playing CL football and has fallen out with the manager so isn't even playing at the minute. plus he's out of contract in the summer so its pretty clear that he's going in january. he'd be a great signing as he not only scores goals, his link up play, unlike huntelaar is top drawer. plus he's two years younger so think he'd be just as good as a signing as huntelaar only its more realistic. i think juve might be sniffing around as well but who knows?!
Secondly, try for wallcott again but i'd actually rather see us buy wilfried zaha. the guy is the next big thing, i have no doubt about that. he's got everything in his game to become a world class player. he's got experience of playing week in week out all be it at championship level. also his wages at least initially wouldn't cripple us. i'd go as far as paying £15million for him so long as we bought a decent striker as well. plus liverpool is the perfect move for for him. he'll get plenty of game time under rodgers in a side that would have huge potential if he and a top striker joined the likes of suarez, sterling and suso who are already there.
that would leave:
...............Reina
Johnson..Skrtel..Agger..Enrique
............Lucas....Allen
....Zaha.......Suarez......Sterling
...............Llorente
With the likes of suso, assaidi, shelvey, gerrard, sahin, wisdom, kelly, coates in reserve, that is a very strong side and squad. still a question mark over the left back position and the goalkeeper and a centre back is needed but other than that we would be fairly sorted.
I don't know about you but a forward line of suarez and llorente through the middle with two quick, skilful young wingers in zaha and sterling either side is a very exciting prospect. bags of potential that in a few years could be as good as a title challenging forward line. I'm not for one minute suggesting that will be the case but seriously two decent signings in these two positions and we will have a very good side.
January moves - realistic!

I think sacking kenny was premature and I think any slating of BR is premature too.
However, if we don't improve on eighth and win nothing, then FSG have opened themselves up to criticism from the fans, because many wanted to give Kenny the chance to improve things. He had a bad half a season and was removed, after having two positive ones. Currently we sit 13th in the league and are already out of one cup.
BR needs to start winning games, but I'm still confident he can.

Paisley.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not slating BR. I hope he succeeds. But, personally, I think he's a major step down from Dalglish.

To say our form under Rodgers is the same as last season under Kenny is simply not true.
In the 19 league games under Kenny in 2012 we won 5, drew 3 and lost 11.
That is simply hideous form.
The cup runs were nice but that league form was disastrous, worse than when Hodgson was manager (we lost 9 of 20 league games under Hodgson).
We have lost 3 of 11 games under Rodgers, and all the signs are that he stopped the rot that had set in. Yes we are drawing too many games, but that is better than losing too many.
We now have a better run of fixtures to the turn of the year and I expect us to win a few more games and lose few.
Would Kenny have improved the form had he stayed too? Probably yes, simply because of averages but he was sacked, deal with it.
I for one and much happier seeing a team improving with Sterling, Suso, Allen in it, that I would have been seeing a team improving with Carroll, Downing and Adam in it.
Kenny was a short term fix that did some fixing, but also caused some damage by helping to waste a lot of money.
Rodgers is a long term appointment, it is up to FSG to back him, and it is still too early to criticise them for not doing that.
Lets see what the next two transfer windows bring and how results are in the 2nd half of the season.

Ok guys. I'll leave you to slag off the greatest ever servant to the club
By the way, we were 8th and cup holders when he was sacked - we're now 13th and already out of the cup. Progress, yeah?

In kenny's last 11 league games we accumulated 13 points, one more than BR has done in his first 11.
Hardly an exact science as you would have to factor in the opposition, but thus far we are yet to see any change in terms of points won.
This might change as long as we keep Suarez fit.

To be fair I think that we will all agree that after the Arsenal game the team switched off and our form slid away as we had already qualified. Not an excuse but rather a mitigator. I also do not buy into "Dalglish spent £100m" stuff. Commolli was sacked for a reason.
I personally think we are getting worse performance wise but that can change quickly. Therein lies my point.
I did watch us dominate the vast majority of games under Dalglish and I did watch us get to two cup finals and I have watched us win only two league games this season.
