Lennon

Just like to throw this out there. I am not a fan of Aaron Lennon as I feel he gets through games with the minimum of effort and overall we play most games with 10 men as he offers so little. In five years he has not improved at all and I also feel that his lack of a good football brain is affecting Walker as Lennon does not make the sort of runs that would hurt the opposition and take the pressure off our team.
Would like to see your comments as I realise that Lennon is very popular so maybe I'm missing something.

I do love Lennon also. I only wish he had more belief in his game and improved in a few areas. I want him to take players on more and try and win penalties. And he doesn't score enough goals for a right winger.

Agreed, even tho one of the reasons i like him as a player is that he always tries to keep on his feet when tackled and continue his run.

Actually I think its more the case of Walker lacking a football brain!!

Lennon is not the smartest player out there but when Corluka (who I never rated at all) played behind him, he always played in those intelligent (though obvious) balls between the full back and left sided CB. Lennon used to run on to those all day long.

Walker lacks the ability, vision and commons sense to play those balls... Even when he was on form last season his passing was rubbish, as was his crossing. Was hoping for an improvement this season but he's had a mare so far.

Hopefully he improves... age is defo on his side!!

walker is actually not a great footballer.

take away the pace and there is not much left.

as i pointed out several times, he was MASSIVELY overated by our fans last season, and him getting young player of the year was quite laughable.

every aspect of his game has been found wanting this season apart from his pace.

temperament - questionable (see chelsea game)
positioning - terrible (see every game)
confidence - low
heading - awful (see newcastle game)
crossing - terrible (see every game)
passing - mediocre, and always obvious passes only
reading of the game - awful.

on top of that he has looked pretty tired too.

he just needs dropping tbh, and plenty of time on the training pitch.

Sitting on the fence still

sheet jokes aside, i agree - he's been woeful in every respect. Literally as if there is no grey matter in between those ears of his.

He can still improve, but you can say this about any player under 27.

This is a WUM right?

Lennon is as hard working as any right winger/right sided midfielder. He puts in a shift at both ends f the pitch.

This season he has be very effective. His final ball/decision making is not perfect but if there is one thing about Lennon that you cannot question it's his effort.

As for Walker, he has got by by using his pace and strength to recover position, rather than concentrating on position. He keeps getting found out. I agree on bis passing and vision and I am not sure this is something he can improve. What annoys me most is how sloppy he is, ironically he smacks of being over confident sometimes when other times you can see he is lacking confidence to make a pass or take a man on.

I don't think the high line suits his attacking strengths. His starting position when we have the ball is well advanced and he is almost alongside Lennon. he needs to be coming from deep and received the ball on the move, rather than he and Lennon trying to work an opening from a standstill, on the edge of the area when faced by 3 defenders.
