The time is now...

to leave DJ...

Never though that I would type that but I just find it unbelivable that when DJ took over from dear ol' Meggy, he said everything we needed to hear, did everything right & said everything right, I was sceptical when he took over but his words and style of play which won us our promotion more than won me over, I though we would be in for a promising season, maybe not promotion contenders but play off contenders at best and then a springboard for good progression, I hoped for just a few signings to add to our good squad of players we had already, signings that had good solid experience at this level with maybe one promising player from the premiership (which we had) and we would be in for a good season.

Dave Jones has gone from one extreme to the other from last season to this season thus far, this summer he signed players experienced Championship players in Martin Taylor, Joe Mattock, "Betty Boo" & and Anthony Gardner-Apart from maybe Gardner they have been bad signings as its turned out, Taylor isnt up to the standard anymore, Mattock for me isnt good enough either and Betty just dosnt care. Kirkland is ok but Bywater for me should get the nod above him as he is more commanding and for me had a great season for us, whereas Kirkland has been injury prone for the last few years and hasnt featured much for his teams, Pecnik, as talented as he is he isnt getting game time and is new to the country so will take time. The signings of Lee, Rodri & Mayor are all promising players but whilst they didnt meet "my criteria" they are better players than the above, but dont get a look in, the only signings that have worked have been Corry and McCabe...and they are only 21 & 20 respectively but shown their undoubted potential, but this is the problem, there isnt enough quality experienced players at this level that are in our team to help them along and bring them on, the squad we had before the afore mentioned joined us consisted of players with mainly L1 experience, exept from maybe Buxton, Bywater and Semedo. Dave Jones had a budget set out by Milan and instead of paying fee's for 3-4 quality Championship standard players he has squandered it on free-bees that are below par players, but the bulk of that budget I think has been wasted on Bothroyd, apparently we are paying half of his 40k p/w wage, AND apparently theres a clause saying that we HAVE to play him if he is fit, which shocks the hell out of me if its true, if he gave a damn and was scoring goals left right and centre then I would'nt be as shocked but the fact that DJ has blown the budget on this waste of space has put us in trouble, unless he sends him back.

The other thing I cannot grasp is his strong support for him, he states that he is the only class player here, so that must be very disheartening for the rest of the team. Surely DJ has lost the dressing room after that remark and the very fact that he keeps playing him must drive the likes of Rodri, Pecnik & Mayor up the wall who are desperate to show what they can do, and we stand to get better results if DJ did play either one of those three.

Also his weekly excuses are very tiresome, "I keep saying the same thing we are not getting the luck" "its the refs fault" "we didnt get the penalty" "we have no composure" "no team is better than us" Is that why 10 teams have beaten us then coz they are not better than us?? It matters not how we or they play, the point of football is to score goals, we are not doing it, the other teams we face ARE!! He's gone from Steven Hawking to Sam Dingle in a matter of 4 months. Sorry DJ for me your time is up and had you not made excuse after excuse, dropped players like Betty when they are clearly not giving 100% or even 50% and basically not making yourself look a 2 hat and was more honest and had more fight in you then I wouldnt be writing this and have my backing and to be honest, im suprised MM has'nt released his hounds on him already!!

Bring back Meggy, at least theres fight in him and is an honest bloke and wont put up with any rubbish, the football may not be eye candy but at least we would be hard to beat andget at teams more, yes we love the pasing game but play it when we are getting results, pointless playing this style when we are near the bottom and not scoring!!! Subsidence over style is what the doctor is ordering till we get better but as long as DJ is here, this wont happen and Betty wont be dropped, thus causing more trouble, so c'mon Mandy, do what you are most notorious for!!

Rant over

And that home stand where the people at the front are below sea level.....what's that all about?

Hmm - we still have them (concrete gutters) in the West Stand at Oakwell, better than the stainless fabricated tray type.

Well I go in the Grandstand and the facilities are excellent, as good as most modern stadia I would say. The kop is still a bit outdoors but at least it's got proper bogs and a place where you can smoke. I find the North Stand seats designed for our short overworked ancestors induce DVT in the modern punter.

I'm North stand, dead centre. My view is more or less the best you can get, but the legroom is a killer there. If you're 6"+ it's a job folding up enough to get comfy.
South is a 'space-fest' when I sit there for cup games but I just find it a bit dull over there.

I don't know what it is with that bit of the ground and it's inhabitants izzy, but they all seem to hoik up a lovely portion of phlegm when I negotiate my way past them. 'Oi, he's coming - get yer greenies ready!'

Disgraceful, they should be tugging their forelocks at your learned presence!

Nonsense, Mike! They should be on my estate, digging coal from my private seam. The ballroom won't heat itself.
