Edberg was wonderful to watch. My memories stretch back to MacEnroe and Borg, but admittedly I was only about 10 years old. Mecir was another I enjoyed watching.

As a casual fan, I think tennis would be a better game
if wooden frames were compulsory.

Well, that is just one of the putative changes but if ear it is mainly for nostalgic reason.

Wooden rackets (or at least smaller ones), smaller, lighter balls, faster courts (this really bugs me, the non-clay courts have really become so slow that the grass of Wimby seems to be similar to the courts of Roland Garros) etc

Anyhow, one can only dream...

I loved Hakeem too IOAG. Magic? Eh, not so much.

Now Stockton Stockton > Magic in terms of pure passing.

Not nostalgia, but to take the emphasis off power. I appreciate it takes different skills to control the ball in today's game, but it just doesn't appeal to me that much.
Regarding the slower courts, I do find it striking to see Ferrer holding his own on the supposedly faster courts. But I think he's on something.

Well, i don't watch Bball as much as i used to be in the 90s.

And current characters are hard to like: Kobe ( just too much drama), Le Bron (arrogance personified, Christiano Ronaldo of Bball and member of the Miami 3 that are practising financial doping in Bball )? Durant? kevin Rose

None of these guys are particularly likeable - respected and admired? Sure. But any of this current as loveable as say Iversen?

Re Tennis:

Yes, Ferrer has really impressed me - especially this year. And in Tennis terms, he is an old player but he just had his best year on tour and is finally showing promise of an all-court player.

His dismantling of the Berdych serve in the Davis cup was interesting to watch. The thing is Ferrer is such an athlete, never gets injured, puts in 100% in every game.

A bit like Nadal but with less weapons.

Nah, the first two dont have much of a case. They're more on par with MJ than Pippen.

Payton has a good case but I'd give the edge to Pippen. Scottie could guard the 1-4 positions and even some undersized centers like Alonzo Mourning. Pip is one of the most athletically gifted players ever and he could put players like Magic Johnson off their game. Payton lacks the versatility and athletic body that Pip possesses.

Saint, looks like you were spot on regarding D'Antoni & Gasol.
Where d'you reckon he might be heading?
