I was just wondering whether everyone has read The Glory Game by Hunter Davies? To my mind it's an essential history lesson for any Spurs fan! It perfectly captures Spurs in the 70s, and Hunter Davies does a great job with legendary characters like Bill Nick, Martin Chivers, Steve Perryman etc.
If you haven't read it, worth asking Santa.
Just don't get it muddled up with The Glory Hole, which is likely to be a different sort of read altogether....

Nice one Greavsie ! From what I remember of the book, Bill Nick was a hard taskmaster, but as you say, totally passionate about THFC. A great read.

Billy Nick was nobody's fool & would not have tolerated some of today's players.
Mind you, neither can I for that matter!!

"Billy Nick was nobody's fool & would not have tolerated some of today's players."
He had a vision of perfection for his teams, and would not tolerate those players who hindered that aim.

Different era.
However, no Spurs team of his would be allowed to do the 80th min stuff more than once a season.

The thing is under Bill Nicholson we knew how to finish teams off & boy could we pass the ball around!!! The opposition were run ragged at times & all with a heavy ball, nailed in studs & a ploughed field to play on!
