Tendulkar has retired from One day international cricket after playing for over 2 decades.
463 ODIs, 18,426 runs, 49 centuries
Sachin said in a statement: "I have decided to retire from the One Day format of the game," he said in a statement. "I feel blessed to have fulfilled the dream of being part of a World Cup winning Indian team. The preparatory process to defend the World Cup in 2015 should begin early and in right earnest. I would like to wish the team all the very best for the future. I am eternally grateful to all my well wishers for their unconditional support and love over the years."

Shocking time though, has he bottled it? Would have thought the Pakistan series was just perfect for him to gain some confidence and form back. We've hardly got the likes of wasim and waqar anymore. Should have retired after World Cup, if he wanted to bow out before tests

Overall, the Indians have put out a strong squad in both formats. I thought they might have rested a few players after thd test series, and considering they got a busy January, but obviously not.

Just saw this from bbc site - maksis comment, so dont shoot the messenger
"Lucky for him he could retire. A decent set of selectors would have sacked him a long time ago.
Now we will have to watch him scratch around and fail whilst getting to 200 tests. India will lose at the same time but hey, surely setting SRT records is the important thing to do.
I feel sorry for their fans who have suffered humiliaton for a long time now whilst this man breaks meaningliss records"
