Spurs XI 5-3 MK Dons: Player Ratings

I went to the game tonight, and whilst I realise preseason friendlies should not be taken too seriously I was largely concerned by our performance. Although Pav and Niko looked sharp, both taking their goals very well, Bentley and Defoe in particular disappointed. I haven't done match ratings before, but I thought I'd give it a go:

Button: Not too much to do, made one or two standard saves but didn't seem to organise the defence that well. The three goals weren't particularly his fault. 6/10

Byrne: Looked lively and got forward well creating space on the right wing, but clearly inexperienced in defence. 6/10

Corluka: Playing out of position in the CB he looked his usual calm and composed self, making some important challenges. 7/10

Mystery CB: I didn't recognise who this was at all, and didnt catch his name on the PA, don't know if Spurcat can enlighten us? He looked pretty average to be honest, heading clear well but once lost possession on the edge of our box for being a little careless. 5/10

David Bentley: Harry get rid of him. Too much showboating often led to losing possession, and but for one good cross in he was a
liability. 4/10

Livermore: Captain for the evening, Livermore looked good in possession but made a couple of clumsy and mistimed
challenges. Wouldn't mind Harry playing him in cup competitions a little. 6/10

Krancjar: Our MOTM this evening, he was superb in controlling and switching the play. Scored one of trademark belters from 25+ yards. Looked fit and sharp which is encouraging. Who needs Modric? 9/10

Townsend: One particularly good maze run and shot was his personal highlight, and created space on the left flank well before cutting inside. 7/10

Pavlyuchenko: Looked very sharp in the first half, finishing his two goals off well, with his second very similar to his Young Boys strike. Although he faded a bit later on, surprisingly dropping deeper than usual, never stopped working and wanting the ball. 8/10

Defoe: Very disappointing. Went to ground easily against mediocre opponent, and spent more time complaining than contributing to build up play. Got barged off the ball and didn't make any chances for himself. New striker please asap. 4/10

Kane: Persisted well to get his first and looked well composed for his second. A bit of a prospect. 7/10
Carroll: Young, English version of Modric. always wanted the ball and looked very energetic. 6/10
Luongo: Looked all right, one good tricky run comes to mind.
6/10

I dont see any spark in Defoe what so ever, i trust Pav more to score a goal out of nothing and to do that something special which we NEED in those tight games

I doubt Pav has faith in either Defoe or Crouch to play alongside him, if we did bring in a good striker i reckon it will be the New Coming of Pav

I'm an MK fan, first time I've seen Spurs live too.
I've always rated Pavlyuchenko, played a blinder today, he's such a good player.

Defoe disappointed but then again it's pre season, not a need to worry really, and Bentley, won't lie, didnt even know he played...Next David Beckham? LOL!

Good luck for the season, must say, you have a quality manager as a bloke, he was in a mighty rush pre match and still took time to sign autographs and shake my hand. LAD!

Dons fan in peace! I really enjoyed the game today. Pav and Kranjcar played outstanding. Defoe did get booed and a lot of comments were made as to getting rid of him when he was subbed of! Bentley was poor, what has happened to this guy he used to be such a prospect?

Anyways good game and wish I Tottenham well in the coming season!

This was Arry, did you check you still had your watch? If he can get £30 for that it'll be going in NEW STRIKER FUND (AKA the Jason Scotland Trust Fund)
