Completely agree with the red card!
Just thought I'd throw my 2 pence in on this incident. I actually think it is technically a "good challenge" i.e. he wins the ball. However, I think the way he did so was so dangerous, if he gets that slightly wrong, or Wilshere moves in a different way, you can break ankles with that kind of challenge.
Whether you think because he did get it just right, he should not of been penalized is the point to argue I think, I just think in the modern game tackling like that has been outlawed, so a red was deserved

Is anyone on here arguing otherwise? Of course it was a red!
Obvious decision.

forget the red cards why didn't riley act when there was a clear tactic of rotational fouling on wilshere?

Agree 100% with this. Reminded me of the Carling Cup final when Toure finally lost it and kicked off. Mertesacker was the one who lost his coll yesterday as another start of an attack was stopped by a foul. Dzeko made 4 or 5 fouls, at least 2 of them were as bad as TVs yellow card foul.

Quite a few people said it was not a red, also Manc's are appealing

Havent seen it on tv but thought it was worthy of a red watching it live.He knows he isnt allowed to tackle like that anymore so only has himself to blame

As an Arsenal supporter of many years I was glad to see the FIRST penalty called! The wrestling that routinely goes on inside the penalty box is ruining the game.
With regard to the Kompany tackle, I think he was a victim of circumstances. I don't think that Kompany is a "dirty" player, however, referees today are trained to be very strict when they see the studs of the boots in tackles. It was not a "two footed" tackle, it was definitely an over aggressive tackle and deserved a YELLOW card.
I wish Arsenal had a player of Kompany's skill and class!

If it was over-aggressive then it is a red. 2 feet matters not.

Why would an Arsenal fan be glad to see a penalty and red given against us?
Do you really think the next time there is holding in the box against us we will get the same??

D'Jeezus,
In response to your first comment. I was "glad:" because I believe in honesty and integrity, things our game is slowly loosing, in part because of fans like you who don't seem to be able to separate right from wrong!
In response to your second empty comment: "What difference does it make? Cheating is cheating no matter what team we are talking about!". Undoubtably you are one of the first to complain about the players who "dive" in the penalty box, or intentionally use their "hands" to control the ball?
Hope you're not an Arsenal fan!
