Apparently Arsene said something along the lines of "we are looking for 2 players and we are willing to spend big" today, does anyone know where these quotes came from?
Good news if true. I never believed he'd have let Chamakh and Djourou go if he didn't plan to replace them.
Wouldn't get your hopes up too much about the "spending big" thing, I don't expect our record will be broken. Wenger will probably stick to what he knows and look in the French league for someone like Capoue or Sissoko, and maybe sign a forward.
Still, at least he's saying the right things if these quotes are true, I for one needed cheering up!

I am a big Wenger fan and will never ever join the Wenger out brigade.....but I must admit he is baffling me at the moment.....
Man C match aside (which we did play well and with fire with 10 men in the second half) we have not been doing well.....
I thought Bradford game would give Wenger and the players a kick up the Arsenal.
But it hasn't.
We need players now......If we have supposed £70 Mil, then a back up goalie £6 Mil, LB - £8 Mil, CD £8 mil, DM £12 mil, Winger £15 mil and a striker £20 Mil.
If not we will lose out on CL next season and lose £60-70 mil from non CL football and probably gate receipts and TV rights.........
If we do not have this money then lets kick the board out.........

My guess is that the club have realised that CL qualification is looking very unlikely so the majority of resources will be used to offset our CL revenue losses.
It is reasonsble to assume that pre January the club had a number of players targeted, however we are now halfway through January and from what I can gather, nothing is close.
Expect another deadline day of panic loanees.

Whenever we have looked like we might not get 4th the club has stengthened in the window to make sure we do
Ade and Diaby in 2006
Arshavin (2009?) whenever it was that Villa were threatening
I dont see why the board would not do the same this time... unless its some sort of social experiment to see if we'll still buy season tickets when in the spursday cup

Just been on ladyarse website and Wenger has been quoted as saying
“We want to add two new players, and we are willing to spend big.
“We have been restricted financially because of the stadium – that is now coming to a close.”

If that is accurate it is either an old quote or a re hash of an old quote.
Club have been stating that for a few years now but still not made use of the resources available.
