There have been a lot of Scousers saying that Liverpool with finish above us, as they have been doing consistently for the last 10 years. I do think that this season will be a battle between Liverpool and Arsenal for 4th spot, so lets compare the squads:
(Based on current ability)
Szczesny<Reina
Gibbs=Aurelio
Sagna>Johnson
Vermaelen>Carragher
Koscielny=Skrtel
Song>Lucas
Wilshere>Meireles/Adam
Fabregas>Gerrard
Nasri>Downing
Walcott=Carroll (completely different players)
RVP> Suarez.
Bench:
Fabianski=Doni
Djourou<Agger
Jenkinson<Kelly
Meireles/Adam>Diaby
Arshavin>Henderson
Gervinho>Rodriguez
Chamakh<Kuyt
No Doubt Liverpool fans will claim that Agger is your true other CB, and that he is better than Koscielny. However he is too injury prone.
No Doubt they will claim Lucas is better than Song, however although he had a good season last year, he is too inconsistent.
No Doubt you will claim that Fabregas and Nasri are leaving, but I am basing it on current squads and thats not certain anyway.
I will admit that Liverpool take greater confidence into the new season, and with our hard opening run that counts for plenty. They also have arguably a more inspirational manager, louder support and they don;t have the distarction of playing in Europe. Don't come back and say that you have a winning menatality though, because you don't.
Liverpool fans seem to have forgotten that their trophy drought is just 1 year less than ours. They always say they will win the league, and they always say we will fail to make the top 4. Be careful what you say guys, it might come back to bite you.

Kop101, good point, well made. You should really be on the debating team at school.

You don't put Agger in your team due to a few injuries, surely you should do the same for RVP, no?

I still don't see how you can say for CERTAIN that RVP's goal against Barca involved no vision. A guy recieves the ball as he drives into the area, he looks up at his options and decides to hit it at the near post, exploiting the gap left by the keeper. Except you're Van Persie himself, every thing you're saying is presumptious. There's no shred of evidence he just put his foot through the ball and hoped for the best. He may have anticipated the keeper would come off his line and hit it through the only gap he could score. In the end, all we're doing is speculating.

Being 100% certain doesn't make you right about anything. Saying 2+2=5 and being "certain" of it's correctness doesn't make it right. And your analogy with Gerrard is pretty silly. A more apt analogy would be saying he hit a 20 yard scorcher while clearly targetting the top-right corner and making it even though a slight deviation from the sweet spot of the ball could send it to row z.

He may not have spotted the exact gap, but its up for debate as to whether or not he anticipated the keeper would move out expecting a cross and so aimed for the near post
