A lot of people here seem to suggest that the Premiership is the most exciting league in the world. While I agree, I believe this excitement stems from an overall lack of quality from the teams here.
The level playing field in terms of technical ability enables the so-called "shock" results to happen.
If we look at moments on the pitch then, of course "world class" moments happen throughout football, including grass-roots level however, for a player to be considered "world class" in my opinion, it requires a level of consistent skill, to the point that the player would stand out in any team in the world.
So, the world class players here in England:
Arsenal - none (Wilshere perhaps in a few years)
Aston Villa - none
Chelsea - Juan Mata and Petr Cech
Everton - none
Fulham - none
Liverpool - Luis Suarez
Man City - Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero, David Silva
Man United - Robin van Persie
Newcastle - none
Norwich - none
QPR - none
Reading - none
Southampton - none
Stoke - none
Sunderland - none
Swansea - none
Tottenham - Gareth Bale
West Brom - none
West Ham - none
Wigan - none
Yes, goals/pieces of skill/dribbles/tackles can all be world class by any player at any time, but I believe these are the only players based in England who could 'set the world on fire.'
I really despise the term "world class," it seems to be a media device which never reflects a player's true ability, but rather increases the pressure and expectation on their shoulders.
Rant over. (PS Amazing win yesterday for LFC, hopefully the lads can keep it up)
Lack of Premiership "world class"

Tevez for me as well. Aguero is a flop for almost 40 million

Outside of Real Madrid and Barcelona, Falcao is the only world class player in La Liga.

How come Aguero is yet people always argue that Rooney isn't? Rooney has a better goals to game ratio at club and international level and doesn't play as an out and out striker a lot of the time.

Quality wise the league is almost back to the 90s when 2 leagues were head and shoulders above us in quality.

I honestly think that's down to the oil barons.
There was always one or two teams at the top but the wages weren't hugely different, and players would happily move to a contender safe in the knowledge they could progress, and possibly the team break into the top 2/3.
Nowadays players looking for a move to the PL not only look for a side with a chance of winning trophies but for the biggest wage. Players like.. Courtois, Lukaku, Dzeko, Nasri, Clichy, Ba, De Bruyne, Sinclair, Rodwell, Marin etc... all could be at other PL clubs plying their trade, entertaining fans.
Instead they're stockpiled and rarely used/loaned out where we never get to see them. The rest of the clubs are suffering as (as in the case of Ade) even when these players fail, or get fed up of wasting their career, no-one can afford to take them on.. it's such a waste of talent.
Maybe the new increase in tv money will help bring more talent to the league but FFP will only ensure that the clubs at the top can spend more anyway...
I'm depressing myself.. rant over.

You can always argue about individuals but I agree with the overall sentiment of the article.
The Premier League is not currently in a strong position.
La Liga is much stronger, and the Bundesliga and Serie A are improving all the time.
The PL is a decent league, exciting and competitive, but the quality currently is not very high.

Bale and Suarez are not world class. Both are incredibly overrated.
